  • 10/19/14 Points 8 (7?) registration is open

Registration is now open for our next autocross! Note that this is the "south" portion of our annual North vs South rivalry with the TVR/TAC guys...so you all get registered, bring fast cars, and fast friends to share your fast cars!

Also note..the North portion of the rivalry is Oct 26 in Huntsville. We need a large traveling contingent so make plans now. More info is in this thread.

Does anybody know if the 2nd coming of the Hankooks are as good, better, worse than the 1st edition?

I ran the V1s last year, been on Rivals this year, going to V2s by the next event. It won't be a back to back comparison but I'll find out at this next event.

I've been running the V2's on the Miata this year and have over 60 runs on them so far. I really like them a lot and would say they are very close the the V1's in terms of dry grip. I haven't run them in the rain, so I cannot comment on wet grip. Yesterday Nick and I went to Chattanooga for an event and it was pretty cold in the morning. Unfortunately the concrete surface at the airport is still pretty new and has a lot of dust, so I can't offer much useful feedback on whether or not they were better in the cold either. Nick and I co-drive the Miata in some of the hot summer events and did not seem to have a problem with the tires overheating, and we were not spraying them between runs. Overall I'd say still hard to beat for dry grip.

                        Cool...thanks for coming out!

Given your avatar I'm guessing you are Jerry Edwards registered in Novice as BS 82??? If so note that your car (2013 Boss 302) is in AS, not BS. Wanted to let you know in case you're making your letters & numbers beforehand. Also it would help the registration process if you can correct it online.

If you're not Jerry Edwards the comment above still applies to Jerry Edwards

The 2012-13 Boss & 07-14 Shelby GT500 is in A Street. 2012-13 Boss Laguna Seca is in SS with the 93,95,00 Cobra R. FS looks like all the other Mustangs. No Fords at all in BS.

On the V2 vs V1 conversation, most people that I've talked to like the handling of the V2 better, but do comment that they don't handle heat quite as well as the V1 did. I personally have not tried the V2 yet, but I've heard many people at national events/ nationals say things along these lines
