Sure Sam, dream on. Since the Blytheville Tour is Oct 18-19, I guess Red vs. Black racing is not running the South leg?

Forum will no longer be utilized!
After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.
Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.
What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

Since the event has been moved we are not going to Blytheville this year. So we will be at the local event. With the money I save from not going, I'm building a tire trailer so i can be more prepared to travel next year.Originally posted by mpcavana View PostSure Sam, dream on. Thanks, I am probably going to purchase John Allen's trailer and will have to modify it to fit my tires. I'm open to ideas.Originally posted by claym View PostI will be glad to help with tire trailer ideas. I have built and modified several

You've seen my trailer. I had to stack my tires as they won't fit between the fenders in the orientation on that picture. I also had to build a base to get the tires above the fenders so they would fit stacking them. In the center I have a metal pipe that is bolted to the floor of the trailer. Around that I have PVC to keep from damaging the wheel centers. I then use a strap to keep them from jumping off the trailer. Both ends of the straps go to points that are through the trailers frame so you can really tighten them down.
I feel like with the tires at the back there might not be enough tongue weight on the trailer which causes it to bounce a little bit more than normal. I adjusted that by getting a new hitch that allows the trailer to slant forward towards the car for a little added tongue weight. I've read online that a lot of people take one leaf out of the leaf spring to keep it from bouncing. This is fine since we're really no where near the max load for the trailer. I might try doing that to mine over the winter.
If I was to do it again I'd probably put the tires on the front and tool box in the back. I had it that way with my E30 but switched thinking loading/unloading would be easier from the back. It really doesn't make much difference once the trailer is disconnected from the car and I felt the trailer bounced a lot less on the E30 vs the M3.- Jerry Ledford

I have the same trailer and had a similar setup to John's, but then I removed the box and just put the 4 wheels evenly distributed across the trailer, lying flat. I did have to build up the floor above the fenders as Jerry did, but it's simple to get the tires on/off and the trailer is very balanced. No issues towing.
I found that I really didn't need the box as the few things I bring can fit in the trunk.Andrew Reynolds
