Jordan Towns took second in GSL today. According to the Ustream feed she lost her clutch during her second run today, which was still good enough to take a 0.5 second lead. The lady in 3rd after two runs then went out and improved by ~1.1 seconds to jump from 3rd to first. Jordan was the only second driver in the group and took her last run in a borrowed car (perhaps the leader's car..they were both driving Celicas) as the rain picked up and couldn't improve.

Congrats on the 2nd place finish Jordan! I know the mechanical is disappointing but you had two really great runs today to be in contention for the win.

Those of us who know Jordan know that the most noteworthy thing in this nationals trip is she actually drove her own car!

In satisfyingly selfish news, the guy who protested Clay & myself last year finished out of the trophies again. Haven't heard if he has filed 5 protests to try and get to the last trophy spot...

Thanks everyone! To add a few details to the story, I came in from the second run and, when I stopped to pick up my time strip, realized I couldn't get the car into any gear and had to be pushed away. The video is hilarious because I'm so happy that I ran a great time that I'm laughing as I'm saying "I think I need to be pushed off the course"! Andy Thomas offered his Celica to me for my last run. We watched while everyone else ran and waited to call the mechanical until we knew if anyone was going to jump in front of me, and when I saw Laura Harbor's time come up on the board putting me into 2nd place, everyone involved went sprinting in different directions to get the loaner car, tools to swap tires, etc. What happened next is known at Nationals as "the swarm". They counted at least 15 people, including the grid captain, Laura Harbor herself, and her husband, helping to get Andy Thomas's car ready for my last run. Unfortunately I was unable to improve on that run but I feel great about second given the crazy conditions... And I have a great story to tell for the next decade or so. We even got a lot of it on video! This is why I love this community! Thanks everyone again! If you haven't made it to nationals yet, it's seriously the experience of a lifetime - and most of that experience has little to do with the actual driving!
