  • wireless timing system questions

wiregrass region is looking into joining the 21st century and getting a wireless timing system. probably either a farmtek or the Race America t-link upgrade. so we are trying to figure out which are good or a pita.
    1. what does your region use?
    2. pros/cons
    3. Do you have any buyers remorse?
    4. what kind of range does it get and are you running any extra antennas?
    5. do you have any experience with other brands? how was it?
    6. any other brands we should consider?

    1. what does your region use? http://www.tagheuer-timing.com/en/ti...impulse-system

    2. pros: easy set up, works great if you set them up correctly,
cons: Must have line of site, this is often overlooked during setup.

    3. Do you have any buyers remorse? We stopped using them for some reason, with our current lot setup they just aren't needed. When I was on the setup crew we had little or no problem with them. They got blamed for a lot of issues but they were rarely the problem

    4. what kind of range does it get and are you running any extra antennas?
Using the antennas that came with them, the will work up to 3000 feet under optimum conditions. Count on 300-400.

    5. do you have any experience with other brands? how was it?
    None.

    6. any other brands we should consider? Can't help you on this one.

thanks Darryl. we are currently using the Race America hardwired system. the t-link upgrade for it is about 80% more than the full Farmtek system, but we are not sure if farmtek will work with our scoreboard.
