Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

I am trying to find out if I can just show up to an event to be able to autocross? I currently autocross in Huntsville. I want to co-drive with my dad if possible.

    Short answer: Show up.

Long answer: Show up on time.

Even longer answer: We don't do much different than our brethren from the north. If they let you run I'm sure we will. If anything we are a little more liberal with our rules other than the "see how many people you can get in a car during an autocross run" rule that bunch of nut jobs has.

      Hey I resemble that remark!

The major difference will be the requirement to have a SCCA membership to run with the Birmingham group. Each driver will need at least a temporary membership in B'Ham, whereas in Huntsville you don't have to be a SCCA member to run. If you plan to do it often (or other out of town events) it is worth getting the annual SCCA membership.

Many of us nut jobs from Huntsville go to the Birmingham events...they're a great bunch...even Darryl.

Just so you are not confused... All SCCA events, wherever they may be, require participants to be members. For the many who are not dues-paying annual members this is accomplished via the weekend membership, the cost of which is included in the non-member rate. So membership is not a barrier to participating.

The difference between us and Huntsville is that TAC is not an SCCA region and therefore has unique requirements due to their insurance. To further muddy the water some of the Huntsville events this year are SCCA sanctioned for TVR and will therefore have exactly the same rules as ours.

Hope to see you at an autocross soon!

Darryl will be the big goofy guy in the yellow shirt that drives the really angry gay miata. He will be faster then you, but don't worry, he will still offer to teach you a thing or two. He's kinda like a cranky teddy bear. Once you get past the cranky outside, he's all yellow shirt fun loving gay miata driving teddy bear.

And yes, I know he will be wearing a yellow shirt because that is all he wears.
