  • Mark McWilliams

I'm very saddened to let you guys know that Mark McWilliams passed away yesterday at 6:00 PM at his home after his long battle with cancer. I can't really find the words at this time to explain what how great of a loss his passing is. As of this afternoon, no arrangements had been made, but I will keep you updated as information becomes available. Please keep your thoughts and prayers with his family during this difficult time.

Mark and his Dad were good friends. Mark was a very enthusiastic CSP driver in his black miata, and on a good day would beat us all. It is hard to believe, as young as he was, that he is gone. The celebration is, his faith was strong in our savior Jesus Christ.

Everyone's sentiments are spot on. Mark was a talented driver, noticeably humble in victory and even more complimentary and gracious in defeat. He was soft spoken, but those of us who knew him well very quickly realized that he was extremely intelligent and knowledgeable on any given subject. He was a talented architect, an amazing brewmeister, a passionate Formula 1 fan and, most of all, had one of the strongest relationships I've ever seen with his family. I don't know of many people that had as strong a relationship with their father as I enjoyed with my own father before his passing, but Mark did. It was very special to see that bond that they shared and he and his dad spent a great deal of time together doing the things that they both loved doing before and throughout his fight with his sickness. I will never forget and am so grateful to have been with them at the inaugural F1 race at COTA in 2012. A weekend we all will never forget despite the fact that their Ferrari and my Red Bull were bested my Lewis Hamilton. I would be remiss if I didn't also say what a blessing his wife, Susan, was to him and his family. She was there for Mark as a brave, encouraging, loving ray of sunshine during the days when he was feeling well as well as the days that he was feeling the effects of his sickness and/or the treatments. She was a true blessing to Mark and his family. As hard as this is, Mark never seemed down and out and I believe this is all down to his own personal faith, his personality and the strong relationships that he shared with his dad, his mom, his sister, his wife and a strong network of friends and colleagues that felt the same about him as he had shown towards all of us from the day that we met him. He was a good man. His family should be so proud and blessed to have raised such an incredible individual. We all are better for having known him. I will miss him greatly as I know we all will.

                      Well said.

Some of the beer that Mark brewed you didn't drink it, you bit off a chunk and chewed on it for a while. Sturdy. That's what he told me it was.

I am shocked. Knew Mark and his dad from the old RC car racing days. May he rest in piece.

So sorry to hear this news. Mark was always one of the friendliest drivers at any event. Truly a great guy. Having been away from the sport for several years I was shocked and saddened by this news. Knowing he has gone to a better place is the only comforting thought in this.
