Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

  • 2009 SCCA Southeast Divisional Series

Here is what I learned at the Divisional meetings at Jekyll Island over the weekend.

The SCCA has put into place a program to give greater emphasis on the Divisional Series. For 2009 they are recognizing a Triple Crown Champion who wins their class in their Division, in the East or West Championship and at Nationals. The stars will have to be aligned for 6 days in your favor. There are perks beyond being the first to ever score it but that will be announced at the SCCA Convention at the end of the month.

Robert Lewis is our Southeast Division Solo Steward for 2009. He has put on great events as the Dixie Solo Chair and is getting plans together for this season. Robert is placing an emphasis on concrete sites. He has a tentative plan for 3 events. The first two are an either or and the last is the championship for double points.

April 24/25 in Norfolk, VA at the LCAC Facility on Little Creek Naval Base. Josh and I ran a Divisional there in 2005 and it's cool. Huge Landing Craft Air Cushioned (LCAC) vehicles normally park on the concrete and it has to be smooth and clean. A magnificent view of Chesapeake Bay is to the North. We should hear soon if the Navy approves the request.

May 16/17 will be somewhere in central Florida. Again, Robert is attempting to get a concrete site.

The Championship event will be either in Marianna, FL, Dothan, AL or Cecil, GA at the end of July or August. The site negotiation is underway. We will be notified as the plans are completed. Stay tuned.

Too bad the May event conflicts with the Nashville TT. Oh, well, there are conflicts all summer. You just have to set priorities.

Sounds like he's trying to do a good job. Sounds like a decent, if short, series. What about the past policy I seem to remember of using Tour events for Divisional points, too?

I also think it's a little odd that the East Championship takes place west of the Mississippi, but that's good for us, I guess.

This is great news Mike. I may have to cut back my National Tour plans for the year.

If you can make it to Norfolk, do it! That was my region before moving here and we ran there once a month. It can get a tad slippery with the sand that blows in off the beach if the wind is just wrong, but for cool places to race it's very high up on the scale.
