I ran my first autox at Oak Mt last week and I didn't do so well. Of course I sucked because it was my first, but my car was horrible. Cheap tires, less than 1° of camber on the front, brand new coilovers straight out of the box etc. It was like driving on ice - actually ice is easier...
I have upgraded the tires, now running BFG Rivals 255 square, with more camber (not enough without a camber kit, but it's maxed out). A Gendron front bar will go on tomorrow. An MX5 front bar will go on my rear Tuesday. Corner balance Wednesday or Thursday. Back to the Oak Mt lot to play with the coilover setups Friday and Saturday mornings. Sunday there will be no blaming the car.
My S is supercharged with 340 hp or so to the wheels. I have four goals with autox (for now): 1. Make my car safer with the power. 2. Be a better driver. 3. Have fun. 4. Setup the car to safely handle higher boost levels (+/- 400 whp) next year.
Anyway, I'd like to ride with a competitive S2000 guy on Sunday if you don't mind 200 lbs of extra weight for a run. And, I like the same person to take my S for a run and give me some advice on adjustments to the car.
I'll buy lunch.
