Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

    SM classing question

    So I've done some reading and found about 75 pages that say you must retain interior plastics in SM and about 75 pages that say you don't have to have the trunk "liner"/plastics in SM.

    Can you gut the trunk in SM? C, Sara and I have the same trunk modifications, so I'm not concerned about the local level. I plan to do a national tour event or 2 next year and I want to be sure i'm not protested and put in a Prepared class.

    So I ask... Can you gut the trunk in SM? Only evidence based research and your source please. I've read peoples opinions for about 3 hours now.

    Seeing how you guys are the SM class experts for the region, I am not sure how you'll get a good answer here. I suggest you post the question on one of the national boards. Like sccaforums.com or roadraceautox.com.

      Dang it...you guys sucked me in after I decided I didn't care (thanks to C's facebook post). Rule 16.1.K allows the rear seat removal. I saw no SM language to allow gutting the trunk but SM builds on Stock, ST, and SP. I know it is not allowed in Stock or ST, so you need to look at the SP ruleset. Looks like this is a question for our SP experts 'cause if it is allowed there then you are okay.

        Trunks need to be intact for SP.

          I've read on scca forums where some say yes it's allowed but some say otherwise. None cite the place in the rule book where they got the info. National tour guy and SM champ has said anything behind the B pillar can be removed. So apparently it depends who you ask. I can't find anything mentioned in the book regarding the trunk plastics. It doesn't say you can't remove it but it doesn't say you can either.

            My '06 RS does not have any trunk trim. That'll help Sara and C since Evo 8 and 9's are on the same Street Prepared line.

            Heath you'll have to look at 2008-2013 Evo's and Ralliart's if you want to update/backdate by the Street Prepared rules.

              I know there is an RS available with the X's as well. Trying to get a pic of the trunk on evo forums. And I got the info. The X RS is like yours. No trunk liners of any kind except board and carpet over the spare which is to be removed since it's a loose item. So technically no trunk liners is a factory option for me.

                I've been looking through the rulebook and can't see where this "b-pillar back" allowance is found. Please post it if you find the justification.

                  I've never saw that anywhere. Just hear say... Which is about 95% of what it all is lol. But now I know the X RS has no trunk liner or carpets so it's a factory option.

                      Was the X RS available in the US? If so, you're good. If not, you can't use that trim package.

                          Were they bought at a dealer in the US? The reason I ask is that Wikipedia said the X RS was a Japanese model.

                            I can buy one in the US lol. Canada, Europe, Japan offer them directly. It's actually not a JDM only model. Also found some reading that allows JDM cars/parts/variants in SM. Such as I can put the JDM engine in my car, crash beams, etc. according to SCCA forums. So I'm good. If someone wants to protest they can. It's a direct variant of my car offered in that fashion from the factory.

                              I don't get it... in a class where you can do so much, why are you guys indulging in this obviously wrong wishful thinking (maybe you are just kidding?) and potentially getting paper thrown at you and embarrassing your region for some trunk trim? Must be some really heavy plastic.
