Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

The time we did win we swamped them with travelers, lots of them and several that were fast.

Don't think you you don't matter in the event, show up, have fun and support your local region.
And the added bonus of their pavement being smoother, grippier and about 3-4 times the size of Oak Mountain lot

The courses are similar to National type speeds, which are faster than we can generate at AL events. If you won't do it for the club, do it for yourself. Get out of your box and expand and meet a great group of autocrossers in different regions. And see how your car prep and driving stack up against others. It will push you to be faster and have more smiles. I am always humbled running at other venues

Myself, Rob, and Forrest will all be making the trip. The Z doesn't pax well but I should be able to make a dent in the raw time results.

BTW, for probably the last time, the MX-5 is coming to town.
Ok, so that wasn't entirely accurate

But it sure felt like we lost a lot due to attendance.

Attendance was part of it, so if we get more support this year we might have a chance. We have better paxing cars this year and faster drivers. Let's make a run at this!

The easy button to improve our support is to offer up codrives to some of our folks who are not making the trip. Especially if a seat is available in a car with a favorable pax.

And the best way to get a co-drive is to offer some compensation to the driver allowing you the use of your car. Tires, gas, setup costs, maintenance, and wear/tear on vehicle all add up. Running competitive Hoosiers can cost $20-40 PER RUN just for tire usage!

Is there such a thing as a non-competitive Hoosier?

                      You know that answer silly!

They are best brand new and slowly fall off after each heat cycle. And once the grooves are gone, the grip is diminished substantially till the cords of death!

Not a fever but reality has set in. Getting older. Time to simplify my autocrossing to a stock class so I can arrive in more comfort and drive. Last week I found the difference in raw time is tough to live with but I'm going to tough it out. The Z did handle very nicely and the time difference is partly my slow relearning what the car can do on course. I know I did not drive to the Z's capability. The acceleration is cool if the tires don't break loose and it handles quite nicely in the slalom. Still it pushes out wide if you don't slow down (driver) unlike the STR MX-5 which will tuck in no matter what I screw up. Since I never hit a cone I was tip-toeing through the course.

The 2014 rule changes are sooo attractive that I cannot resist the move back to CS. Josh and I are getting a preview at the Wilmington National Tour this week and I've signed up for RTR at Lincoln. Full speed ahead!

BTW, I will offer the MX-5 for about 4 weeks starting tonight in STR trim. If I don't get a reasonable offer then it becomes a stock daily driver. It is a sweet car.

If the car doesn't sell by the end of August then pieces will be sold. It's a better deal as a package.
