  • Pts #3 Recap

Had 14 runs today. Don't remember an event thay your next run came up so quickly that you just sat in the car and kept your helmet on. Unusual day weather wise. Rain in the morning which let up but left the course greasy. Dried out for the afternoon runs and gave better grip. Some folks had big time drops.
John K. worked the mic and had a big announcement about W8 newly formed foundation for homeless and abused Miatas. It appears the W8 can run all the events this year without using the same Miata. JK showed touches of Brian Wilson level humor.
Well run event, thanks to all, especially the Kilgores.

A fun event with lots of runs. A little excitement in XP. I thought it was a good outcome for a rainy day. Congrats to C for the fast times.

I thought the day was going to be miserable after arriving at 6:30 to mid 40 degree temps and rain...less than optimal weather for course setup. However, the day really turned out quite nice after the rain cleared out and the sun started shining. A small group, but fun day nonetheless!

Thanks for everyone that still braved the chance of rain to come have a great time.

It was a tough one, if I could only do this everytime.

Setting up in the rain was no fun (I went home and changed shoes and socks before drivers meeting) but I really enjoyed that first session.

                  I did the same thing.

That was my favorite event so far.....coming in 4th overall in raw time more than likely had a lot to do with it

The first session was quite the horse race, Delanie! Just when I thought I'd laid down the best Novice time, it would get knocked back down, heh.

Yeah that was fun. I'm not sure why I didn't get much faster in the afternoon though.

I wish the Novices could all run together so we could go back and forth like that but I guess it isn't feasible when there are so many.

And fastest RAW time of the day by a stock class Miata??? That's awesome!

The novices are split up so there are always experienced workers at the corners. Lyle did a good job in the E Stock Miata. Being on Hoosiers certainly didn't hurt him in the afternoon.

I'm sorry, C. I tried to keep from going faster on that last run, but I just couldn't help myself. Please forgive me. John W8 is right. The Hoosiers were the difference in the afternoon. I'm just glad he brought his daily driver instead of the yellow CSP car. More than likely, he would have had FTD and maybe even top PAX time as well. Probably the last time he will do that. So, C, I had to go for it. It's rare to get a shot at FTD in an E Stock Miata.

Only complaint I had of the whole event is that the weather deterred a lot of people from coming out and Bike Link was the sponsor. Hopefully next event the Kilgore's will allow me to say a few words about Bike Link. THE best bike shop in Birmingham. Period!
