As the 2013 season is about to begin, I think it is about time we found a few dependable individuals to take on one of the more important tasks of hosting a great Solo event; course designing.
Last season, we had several people pick an event that they were sure they would be able to attend to commit to designing a course for that event. This was great, as it gave the designers plenty of time to refine a design well before their map was ready to be put to the test.
This year, I'd like to do the same thing again. If you've ever been interested in designing a course, or think you could do better than you've seen in the past, now is your chance! All we ask is that you look through the rule book a little to understand the basic safety requirements, and perhaps browse this thread to pick up a few tips on the accepted standards of Solo course design.
Check the thread here to see the dates of this season, and see if you know you'll be available for any of them. If you are, and would like to give this wonderful challenge a go, let us know by replying to this thread. Once we have enough people to cover the dates, an email list will be created so we can keep up with who is doing what, and when.
If you'd like to learn more about course design and would like to be involved in the process, but aren't sure you're ready to take on the responsibility of an entire event by yourself, that's okay too! You can team up with some of the more experienced designers and shadow them as they show you the ropes.
Remember: this is a volunteer club and without members willing to take on the important roles, no one gets to have any fun at all, and that sucks. So don't be shy, and help out your local members!
