Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

Well the new Dunlops are out (well not for everybody yet) . And this just in BF goofrich has a "rival" arriving in May. But many still love the Hankooks RS-3, R1Rs, and ZR1s.

Whacha' gonna do. . . when they come for you?

If your size is available in time it looks like you'd be crazy not to get the Dunlop Z2 or BFG Rival. What I haven't seen so far in the tests of the Z2 is how it handles heat. I need something that is also suitable for a racetrack, so unless some favorable Z2 track testing becomes available it looks like I'll be ordering RS3s for now since the BFG is coming out too late for my use.

The rivals from what ive read look like really good tires, tread pattern looks great but not for the rain. But im definetly waiting to see if they hanlde the heat, if so we'll try them on the rear since they dont make a front size for our car

Interesting ... I didn't know there was a successor to the Z1 already.

The NT01 is not legal for ST class... 100 Treadware rating.

This is true. But it is a a great co-driver tire. They hold up to heat well and you get many more runs off these then kumhos or hoosier, yeah they arent as fast but a great tire for the money

Think I saw Rod post up there. Is that your new car? Any way back to the thread.

Got My D2s on the way. Should be here before the 9th.

I've heard amazin things about the rival but it's not out till march. Tread depth is 7/32s. I think that's why it feels so direct when it was compared to the rs-3 recently.

I really think the all around wet dry hot cold is gonna be the Direzza D2. If my second hand math is right it should now be as fast as the RS-3. I took the tire rack comparo of D1 and D2, then converted it to a % time decrease and then cross referenced with the numbers from the 2012 GRM STR tire test. I know it's not perfect because the cars are not the same.

As for the heat, guess I'm buying a spray bottle this year!!

Since that last post there was a Lemons race at Road Atlanta where several of the teams ran the new Dunlop Z2s and are raving about them. I take that to mean they handle heat better than the Z1s. We have a new set of the Z2s for Ben's RSX for this season.

I really want the Rivals for the M3 but my size (245/40-17) is not scheduled to arrive until May. The car will still have its old mismatched rubber for points 1 but I'll be getting a used set of Yokohama AD08s by points 2 (and the TT school). The Yoks typically get great reviews but they are very expensive new. This used set will get me through the first few events while waiting on the BFGs to show up.

Does it rub with a 45 series sidewall?

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

If you're asking me, I'm pretty sure a 45 will rub.
