Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

  • ***2012 Autocross at Barber Motosports Park**

The autocross with PBOC will be on the 17th and 18th of November.

We need volunteers to help with cone shagging. If you would like to work or learn how to setup the timing equipment, then this is a good time to be around.

The schedule is a little difficult, because we are at the mercy of the Instructors from PBOC. Basically if you are going to work the event, you will need to be at the second tier of the paddock by 7:45am and work until around 5:00 or 5:30pm.

We will need a few Instructors to help out with the Novices from PBOC, basically if you have helped C and Sara with the Novices at our events, then you could Instruct a novice at this event.

We will be providing lunch for cone shaggers and Instructors, as well you can run the autocross course as much as you want. We will also be paying $25 a day.

I will be taking a list of names, so if you want to work the event, you must be on this list.

    Cone Workers/ up to 5/
    1 Nick Vagner
    2 Heath Patterson
    3 Griffin Burkett
    4 Delanie Calhoun
    5

Instructors/ up to 4/ The Novice Car Control Clinic will run from 9:15 to 10:15
    1 Chaisit Tongsuvone
    2
    3 Nick Vagner
    4 Mike Cavanaugh

The autocross will open to NON PBOC drivers at 9:00am on both Saturday and Sunday. The autox will be both days. We will do $1 per run. Or $5 for 7 runs. Or $10 for 20. Or $20 for unlimited runs. We will also be taking donations to support Cancer Research at UAB, which is the PBOC charity for their event. All donations will need to be cash or check.

The schedule is fairly liquid, and maybe changed without notice. The PBOC drivers will have priority to the course as it is their event. However, those of you that attended last year can attest, the event is a boat load of fun. You will have the time to run as much as you want, make changes, then run again as much as you want. It really is a very good time.

I'll be there like last time, wherever you need me.

Are they going to need a classroom instructor again?

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

Possibly, I should be hearing from Pete within the next week about the plans.

There is no stated driving time. So if you wanted to drive for just a little while, then leave, that is fine. There is no need to work, just to drive.

At this point, I am only looking for those that are willing to work both days, and if things go like last year, there is plenty of time to drive more then most people are willing too.

Thanks Mike. You will be a great asset to the Novices that will be there. I am fully expecting the days to go similar to the schedule from last year. Should be the same amount of driving, plenty of seat time.

I will work cones for the day. Sign me up! (Daniel Bailey). And also how will I be able to run as much as I want if I am working. Are we going to be doing shifts or what?

The main reason we are having this event, is to help out PBOC instruct their novices, and make a few bucks by having a really laid back event in a very nice arena. Because of the size of the area, we generally only need about 3 people to really pick up the cones (so having 5 or so, allows for shifts). This is very laid back, and outside of the PBOC group, we didn't have but maybe 20 or so people last year that came out specifically to run.

We will generally have quite a bit of time of just "hanging out" and in that time, believe me, you can pretty much run as many times as you want. If you are going to work, please understand that your main reason for being there is to fetch cones, and do whatever we need to make the event happen. If you are wanting to run the course a whole bunch (meaning 60 to 80 times a day or more) then just plan on driving, and you can hang out and fetch a cone or two if you want while you are hanging out, but we will not be providing lunch and pay to those that are doing that.
