Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

We are really going to shoot for 6 runs. I hear what every one is saying, and believe me I don't want to be out in this weather for a long time more then anyone else. If for some reason something happens and it is just out of our hands 4 runs might happen. But we always want to shoot for 6 runs.

So reading between the lines, 4 runs will happen, 5 runs will be good, 6 runs is what we are going to shoot for.

There are alot of things we are going to have to deal with tomorrow. And we can not say for sure how things are going to go.

If we do 4 run groups we can always split 2 driver cars into separate groups so that it's all 1 driver cars and nobody has to melt their tires from driving, waiting for 7 cars to go, and driving again.

If each run group is ~20 people it should work out, if the 2 driver owners are willing to part with their cars.

The only problem with running that many groups, is finding qualified people to work in the trailer...

Like there won't be 10 people crammed in there trying to escape the heat...

Me, you, rod, josh, anyone else who wants to. It's not like it's hard. Just have the experienced ones in there first for when timing fubars itself.

Today reminded me of ALSCCA of years gone by. Years that don't need to be repeated. Ya'll gotta work on your timing system or have a backup in place. With the temperatures we had today neither the workers or the drivers want reruns for timing issues.

What did work very excellent today was the run groups. I liked the short run groups. For me the hottest part of the day were the 2 driving sessions. The work sessions really were pretty tolerable with the canopies that were put up.

One of the timing issues was caused by axware crashing, so you can't really have any backup in place for that. The resulting time lapse from it was a fair bit of reruns and waiting for the system itself to recover and repopulate.

Another issue is one we've been having when it gets to a certain point in the day the sun just does not do well with our lights and sends off multiple trips (had this issue at start, literally ran through 30 trips in a 10 second period). There's nothing we can do about that except for hold start and move the timing lights around and then restart.

Yes, there are timing issues that are user generated, someone skips a car, or doesn't notice when times are being recorded incorrectly, but there's not much you can do on that point either.

Most of the physical problems with the timing system are simple to fix, but troubleshooting the timing isn't always as easy as "oh, the sun's in the way, swap them around".

If you'd like to do timing and scoring in the future feel free. There's a lot more going on in the trailer than just tapping keys on the computer and it's quite easy to get behind. If you think you have some solutions to our problems then please help us implement them.

Drivers don't have to take reruns either. I don't think anyone was complaining about getting more seat time (while people were complaining about themselves not getting the reruns)

                              My observations:

Yes, there were problems in the first run group. However, after those faults were taken care of, the number of equipment failures were minimal or non-existent.

This was one of the fastest "Turn-Around" events I've ever attended regarding AL-SCCA.

Ladies, Gentlemen... You put on an event in extreme circumstances that rivals that of the National level guys.

I bow to you... Job well done.

Wonder if putting the light and reflectors in a tube (like a Pringles can) would mitigate the stray light signals??
