Forum will no longer be utilized!
After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.
Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.
What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

If you are looking far enough ahead the directionals are good, but I see your point. Actually the pointers on the inside of the circle should be commanding your attention. Anything else is decoration and penalties for those who go too fast on the skidpad.Originally posted by Erv View PostThe direction should be angled so as to be seen by the angle of attack. Like so.

I just realized that sounded richardish, with the LOL, didn't mean that. Course looks fun.Last edited by JohnW8; 06-12-2012, 11:46 AM.John W8

Hi John - Appreciate the consideration for Nick and the kart...we'd definitely love to bring it down again if possible. Thanks, Andrew.Originally posted by JohnW8 View PostHere's the idea for the next events course.
The course may or may not resemble this map so don't memorize it too closely.
Yellow circles are to scale (100' diameter around light poles) so we're good in case we get some kart traffic. Start will be at the northside.Andrew Reynolds

I have to put in a comment (coming from many years of trying every variant of course design). Crossovers will severely limit the speed at which you can get a second car on course. First, you need to wait for the first car to clear the crossover. Second, you may have a delay if someone hits something before they exit the feature with the crossover. The only place where I have had minimal success with a crossover is at the very first of a course. It looks fun but you will be stuck with one car on course most of the time. If that is OK, then it should be no problem.Bill Clinton "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

And for the crossover, I would use a more distinct "X" with pointer cones on each side of the entrances (going in the the skidpad and exiting skidpad) like you would mark a gate. This will be easier to visualize and help to minimize DNFs while retaining the integrity of the course. Just another suggestion if the above suggestion is not utilized....Bill Clinton "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

I agree about the limiting factor of cars on course. My goal is to lengthen the course so we're not done in 28 seconds. Originally since TVR had an event on the same date, I was figuring a smaller turnout where 1-2 cars on course wouldn't be a problem. Since they changed their date and some TVR drivers may be in attendance, I will revisit the design and adjust accordingly. Clay, you coming to the event?Originally posted by claym View PostI have to put in a comment (coming from many years of trying every variant of course design). I am scheduled at hospital that day, but will try to swap with someone. Would love to come help with setup...
You could always just have like 2 90 deg pivot cones instead of crossover and keep course about same length and style...Last edited by claym; 06-13-2012, 12:46 PM.Bill Clinton "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."
