Just get a really big sander out and sand them down until they are slicks. Real race cars run slicks.

I'm not sure why anyone would pay to have the usable rubber on a tire stripped off.
Just run them for a few hundred miles on the road to get the manufacturing chemicals off and you'll have grip out the door.M. Cholewa

Which tire to shave, not all get the same benefit from my understanding

I would not shave the tires. The block patterns are quite large on Toyo and Hankooks which lessens the effect. If you were planning to run for trophies in Lincoln and needed a couple tenths then you might shave them just to cover all bases. Running regionally or even Tours, do not waste your money.Mike C.
