Because then we would have to put up a poll for One or Two drops and have a discussion. And we would have to put up a poll for what type of cake, with or with out icing, with or with out filling, and then have a discussion. At some point we would make a decision to actually autocross and people would still not be happy.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

Thanks for the poll. I'll abstain, since I might make two events, this year. ;^)Chuck Schultz

guys I think it is important to have drops . You are going to have events on Saturdays and Sundays and you know ....as bad as it sucks...some folks have to work Saturdays and have no chance of making those events . I am one of those unlucky few ...(not that I am running for points) but if I was Id be upset if there were no drops in the points structure. This is not the first time this subject has come up on my tenure with the club and the discussions went about the same way . I think 2 drops is the way to go .Ricky R

I prefer 2 drops. Sometime things just happen and you can't make every event. I feel that a couple of drops gives more folks a fighting chance at a Title..
Just because you don't make an event, doesn't mean you don't want toSean

As the man that used to compile the year end points, there have only been a couple of times where the drops affected who won. The thing to remember is even if you make every event you still get your lowest event dropped. Say you won all but three event in a year. You broke something on your second run one weekend and you just had a bad day on another. Guess what, after the drops those two events don't exist. Now if you're like most adults, stuff comes up throughout the year and you might just have to skip an event or two due to life. Well, congratulations, you still have a chance at the title.
At least no one has called this a socialist program yet

We can start having a trophy presentation after the drivers meeting, so that we make sure everyone gets a trophy. And then just run after that and not keep times. It would make it alot easier for those people that work in the trailer. We won't have timing issues anymore.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

That's why I put the Miata up for sale. Why win championships if I have to pass my shirt around the club and have Nick get McNugget sauce on it? I'm getting an old volvo and going to XPOriginally posted by Cholewa View PostIt's actually communism. Championship wins you. We all share the trophies.

TVR uses the one event above 50% as the # of events to count towards year end trophies. They want to encourage participation (and your best finishes) but do not want to penalize the driver that may go to church one Sunday, work weekends, go on vacation with the family, or may be sick the weekend of an event. If you count too many events, you may give the year end award to the driver with the attendance award and not the one winning the events. Just a 25 year autocross observation...
If you are able to come to every event and improve your finishes, you are still able to do that with this system. It does weed out the poorest performances...Last edited by claym; 02-02-2012, 02:10 PM.Bill Clinton "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."
