  • To drop or not to drop

So there has been an ongoing debate about whether the 2012 supplemental regulations for ALSCCA Solo should contain a Championship Points Series that contains 2 drops as things have been done in the past. Both sides have argued their points. So we are going to make this simple and do it the SCCA way and ask for member input. If you'd like drops, then vote for drops. If not, then vote for no drops.

Even though I feel like you are pissed at me, I do think this is a fair way to decide. While the forum won't include all members, it does include a majority of the "serious" autocrossers that would be affected by this decision.

I will feel like a complete $*#& if I'm the only vote for drops ... lol.

No way Matt. I'm not pissed. I just have a different view.

Shall I start another poll to see if "cake" should be included in this poll?

Why not an option for just one drop?

I thought about this. Having a 1 drop option and a 2 drop option. But then I thought that by splitting up the drop options, one might split the votes and thus decrease the total votes for getting drops. So I just put a single option for 2 drops as that has what's been done in the past.

Why not have the poll of "Drops", "No Drops" or Cake.

You as the Solo Chairs can then decide how many drops that will be allowed.

One drop would be my vote as well. I think it's a meet in the middle.

F my life! Well there is no way to change the poll now unless I start a new one. If you want drops, then vote for two, but make a post saying your preference for one or two drops. If 2 drops wins, then we'll tally up whether its one or two and change the supps accordingly.

I think 2 drops is a good number. 6 to qualify, 8 for full points, 10 for best chance. Nice and round.

OK, I voted for drops but think 1 drop would be sufficient.

I know others have said that most racing organizations don't do drops but when I raced motorcycles with WERA (amateur motorcycle road racing for those that don't know) they did drops and I think it worked well. It was the same type of people, had jobs and had to go to work on Monday, so the drops were helpful when things arose. There was a good bit more travel involved as they raced at different locations so I do not think we would need as many drops.
