Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

I'd let a Miata guy answer ... but no, you do not have a "sportscar."

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Where is Eric Edwards when you need him?

Rather than go into what is or is not a sports car...the Eclipse is based on the Galant platform. I can't get the 2012 rules to come up, but you (and Zac) should be in STF with other "heavy/newish" front-wheel drive cars. STC is the home of the 89 Civic Si and other lightweight non-sportscars.

I know the registrars are not responsible for classing cars, but all our trailer folks need to at least know that "ST" no longer exists and have a 2012 rule book or classification list so that participants can determine if their former ST cars are STC or STF.

I think there needs to be a new definition of sportscar to a vehicle which participates in motorsports activities.

The old term of being a 2 door 2 seater is kinda out of date considering the handling and power of some of the newer cars being raced

There are lots of really sporty cars around that don't begin to meet the true definition of the term sports car.

There are lots of sports cars out there (mine included) that don't meet the true definition of the term race car.

There are lots of race cars out there (including certain purple and yellow Volvos) that don't meet the true definition of being good candidates for racing.

With that said, an Eclipse GT may not fall into any of these categories. . . ;^)
