  • 2012 Solo Season

Alright folks, it has been brought to my attention that too much of the forum talk is comprised of non-car related talk. So to bore you all to death, I want to bring up a few items for the 2012 season.

We will be addressing the schedule for the 2012 year very soon. We are awaiting a few details to work themselves out, and then we will have a proposed schedule.

I want to make sure that all of you are aware that MANY RULES CHANGES will be occurring in 2012 regarding class structure and car classing. This has been in the works for more then a year now, but I know that there are several new people coming into our sport that are just now joining the SCCA and might not know to look in the FASTRACK for the upcoming rules (or hell, you might not even know what FASTRACK is). So, please, please look through this link and make sure that you know what class you will be participating in during the 2012 season. Many of our competitors will be affected by these rule changes, and I would hate for you to order new vinyls or magnets for a certain class not knowing that you are no longer going to be in that class.

As for our Supplemental Rules, we are currently reviewing them to see if anything needs to be changed, clarified, or if they will be left alone. All of this will be coming out in the next few weeks.

I hope that you are as cold and bored as I am, and wishing that it was warmer tire shredding weather. Soon enough, soon enough.

I thought you might be happy about the Datsun being out of CSP, but the thing that confuses me is where is says....

"- Move from CSP to DSP all cars currently classed in CSP with the exception of the cars
          listed below:
          Audi
          TT (1.8T, FWD & Quattro)
          TT (3.2L, Quattro)
          Quattro Turbo Coupe
          Pontiac & Saturn
          Fiero (V6)"

So that means the Miatas are going to be DSP now?

I would LOVE to see what a 56 vette looks like in CSP trim.

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

Its what is currently posted on the SCCA Solo page under the 2011 Rules. It has this link as the 2012 Rules Proposals. I guess we will have to wait and see what is said, they never publish the rules till right before Dixie. But I would think they would give people a bit of notice with all the changes they are looking at.

Also, what is a master cylinder brace and why would one require one?

A master cylinder brace limits the movement of the firewall when you stand on the brakes hard. It improves brake performance.

exactly the reason Cholewa doesn't know what it is.....if he needs to slow down he either backfires the Volvo and slides it sideways, or is in a VW that doesn't need to slow down

I don't recall ever seeing any of this being out for member input. But I was preoccupied last April. I may have missed it.

So this magic brace mounts from the MC to the firewall, giving it some triangulation to brace for insane braking?

I guess my ish is too old and stuck for me to ever think it would move under hard braking, but then again, like john said, I don't ever brake hard... not even once.

No, it usually mounts from the firewall/MC to a strut tower to triangulate.
