I want to say thank you to eveybody, the Kilgore's and everybody that work hard to make 2011 one of the best year for ALSCCA yet! Great site and awesome operating team!
I want to echo C's comment. While I have not run much the last two years, three times this year, one gets a little out of touch, so it was fun to see how well run these events are, how good the site they obtained is, the high level of enthusiasm there is and how hard these folks work. I wish there had been a novice program when I started out. Again Thanks.
Fantastic Season and a great job for the Kilgores and the whole autocross set up crew that made sure the events were ready on time and provided a full day of competition. Outstanding job!
So when are you gonna put the "drops" back in the rules?
I'm with w8 on the drops. 6 events to qualify in your class, 8 events count towards points, 2 drops of either no attendance or lowest points.
But DAMN that was a great year of autocross. Big props to John and Mark Kilgore for stepping up and taking over the program, and all of our early morning dedicated crew for making sure everything got setup and worked as smoothly as possible.
It takes a village to put on one of these events, and it takes some good people to volunteer to be at the site at 7 or earlier to do it. This program is nothing without it's members who volunteer, so if you volunteered and learned a new position this year, good on ya.

What a fun year this has been!!!! Autocross this year was a top notch program. Its so awesome how everyone just dives in to help out to make sure every has a fun day of racing. I want to thank John and Mark for being our leaders through the sometime tough growing year, in the end all the headaches and hard work really paid off! I also want to thank the CSP pro drivers for stepping up and helping C and I with the novice. You guys really helped us out and I know you had a big impact on all the novice that you were able to coach, so big thanks. Thanks to all the other drivers that allowed me to put a novice in your passenger seat. It really helps them to see the course at speed. AWESOME year guys, can't wait for the battle to start back up in 2012!!!!

I wish that we live closer to the event so that I can pick up some more duties at set-up.
And yes I agree with Mr Wenning, I wished that there was a novice program when I first started as well, and thats why we try our best to spend times with the novice to make them feel welcome. Im glad to report that the program is growing, the novice are coming back. Thanks to everyone who lend us a hand helping us by giving them rides and time to give them some pointers at the events. after all they are our club future.
Im kinnda on the fence about " the drops" I think I could benefit from it because im sure my schedule for vacation maybe the same day as the event ( or a broken car) and dont want to be completely out from the race because I missed one event. then again seeing how close SM has been the last few events it could take that one event to determind who's taking the champion trophy home! just my .02 C

The novice program rocks! I have learned so much and I will be back next season. Thanks to everyone who has helped me and divulged closely guarded secrets regarding suspension setup.
I'll chime in with everyone else...it was a great season! I thought the course for Points #9 was going to be hard to beat but yesterday's was even better as far as I am concerned.
I am ambivalent on drops. Just let the solo chairs decide and stick with what is published at the start of the season. We DO need our regular worker crew to read the supps at the start of the year so that we don't have to go through a third year of confusion when folks start thinking about class standings
It would be helpful to clear up some things on the setup crew as well. Zac was left stranded on tech at least once when he was expecting an experienced person (who had signed up to do it) to continue to teach him what to do. Also, given the time and effort it takes to do tech it should be that person's only work assignment for the day, just like early waivers, unless we are short of workers which has not been the case all season.
I never knew that early waivers was someone's only work assignment ... I thought we only did that for the guys from Atlanta that needed to leave early.
Course setup, equipment setup, registration, tech, waivers ... they all have jobs before the event ... and they all still work. The benefit was a lower entry fee I thought.
It just needs to be nailed down. As a casual observer it doesn't look like all those setup spots end up with a work assignment, but I could easily be incorrect. My understanding is that in the "good old days" the early setup crew did not have other work assignments unless turnout made it necessary. It is pretty clear that this year we had plenty of corner workers.
Frankly, the reason we work setup is the lower entry fee. Having to pay for three drivers at each event gets expensive otherwise.

Yes, early waivers is a work assignment for the day. It has always been written in on the work assignment thread as a stipulation for people to work that slot. Not only do you have to show up early, but you have to sign in everyone coming into the gate, 100 plus people usually, and make sure you answer any questions they have, point them in the proper direction to get to tech, etc. It is also a longer work assignment as you have to be there from 7:00 am until 9:30 (drivers meeting). Generally, the work assignment of "waivers" for those doing it during the run group is about an hour, and you pretty much don't do anything except check in the occasional spectator.
John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

I used to do early waivers just so I didn't have to work for the rest of the day. Waivers is a pretty crappy job now though, since you can't see any of the action at all, it's hard to get someone to go sit up there and not be able to watch cars run around, unless of course, that someone is a grandpa.
