Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

  • Points 10 **Charity Event**

Event date 11/13/11 at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Pelham AL
Hello fellow racers, I can’t believe I’m saying it but it’s time for our LAST autocross!!!! This year has been super busy but wow where did it go. As most of you know we use our last event of the year as a charity event. All the proceeds of the event will be donated to a charity as well as items we collect during the event. This year we have selected the Shelby County Humane Society. I have contacted them to see what they need most right now and they said kitty litter and paper towels. Easy enough. So please spread the word about this! This is a great cause and I know if we pull together we can really help them out.

Also here is their entire wish list for other items they need on a daily basis to provide for these homeless animals.

Biggest Need – Kitty Litter, Cat and Kitten Food
    Paper Towels

Bleach, Lysol Spray or Similar Floor Cleaner
    Laundry Detergent
    Copy Paper (letter size)
    Dawn Dish Detergent (Blue)
    Bath Towels
    Stainless Steel Food Bowls
    Stamps
    Fold Down Wire Cages
    Plastic Animal Carriers
    Monetary Donations for Medicine
    Canned Puppy/Kitten Food
    Seamless Stainless Steel Water Buckets
    Black Sharpies and Highlighters
Gem Clips, Paperclips and office supplies
AA and AAA (Duracell brand only) Batteries for our
    scanners

We will be taking any cash donations as well, even if it’s just a dollar, every little bit counts.

    Thanks everyone!

Thanks to Sara for getting the Charity Event together. This event will be run a little differently than the way our other points events have been done this year.

      Price: $25 for everyone

Runs: 3 guaranteed runs in the morning, fun runs in the afternoon pending donations.
We ask that if you want to do fun runs in the afternoon, you make a $1 donation
per run, or give any item listed in Sara's post per run. Example, you want to make
5 fun runs in the afternoon, please give 5 cans of dog food or cat food.

Points: Finishing positions and points for the event will be based on the morning runs.
Afternoon runs do not count toward finishing position or championship points

We hope everyone comes out and helps this great organization!

I have another question. How are we going to split the workers in the afternoon? I know this is a great time to drive other peoples cars, so how are we going to split up the workers?

I can't remember how we did it in the past.

event date is at the top of Sara's post. Sunday 11/13 at Verizon

We'll staff people at corners for 30 min to an hour at a time. Then switch out new ones. We'll run as long as we have people to work corners.

This event is only two weeks away! Hope everyone has in mind some things they would like to bring to donate. Also this would be a great event to bring a friend that has never raced before. They can get a lot of seat time!

Don't forget to look over the list of items the Humane Society is needing.

Shelby County Humane Society is also very closely affiliated with Alabama Spay/ Neuter clinic... I'm investigating into whether they would let me volunteer some of my time at Alabama Spay/ Neuter helping with some of their low-cost castrations...

That would be awesome Jordan, I wish more people would get their pets fixed! Such an easy way to stop the over population of homeless pets. You rock!!

Is it called a castration for the bitches too?

It's technically "neuter" for both, but people use it for just males most of the time. Castration is males, Spay is females. Or, if you want to be technical, orchidectomy for males and ovariohysterectomy for females. haha

Why do they call it "fixed" when they can reproduce well? Shouldn't they call it "break"?

Kinda like women going for a hair permanent several times a year. I would be honest and call it a temporary...
