Options for new Catalytic Converter

I want stay in stock class, but my CEL is on due to code P0240, which means either the 2nd o2 sensor or the cat is bad. (yes more stuff is possible, but they throw more specific codes) OEM cats are extremely expensive and I was wondering if there is a cheaper option that will let me stay in stock class.

Also, can't any decently quiet exhaust be added in stock class as long as it is cat-back only? I want a Borla system.

I would change the O2 first, if that doesn't fix it I have a mid pipe for a 99/00 that has a good cat in it you can have for $25 if you come get it. Did you get my e-mail on your hard start issue?

Exhaust is some what subjective, my personal opinion is the Roadster Sport. As long as you leave the stock mid pipe in place it sounds great.

FWIW, my car has a Borla....the smaller of two models they offer I believe.

Follow Darryl's advice on the 02. That could keep throwing the code after you spend $$$ on a cat.

Poll the CS audience and see if anyone would contest you for running catless in the region. I doubt anyone would care.

I will try the 02 first. If the sensor doesn't fix it, I would be happy to come pick up a mid pipe for that price.

I did. I apologize for not replying. It starts fine now, I just have to turn the key like a man instead of softly easing it like my cushy Saab.

As far as the exhaust, I do like the sound (and price) of the roadster sport. I will have to decide on that after I get the car running with no CEL's.
