newbie tech question

Howdy yall,

The October event was my first. I had just done the PDX the day before and had all my tech stuff from that. But as I recall, the Sunday solo tech was pretty low key. I don't remember having to show a pre-tech form like the one required for the PDX. Am I missing something? For 11/23, is there any tech form I have to get done ahead of time, or is the tech just done morning of on site?

It's just done on site. The basic tech inspection checks: Battery tie down (it doesn't move when shaken), Wheel bearings in good shape, Brake pumps up when pressed, and if you're lucky, a throttle pull to make sure it's not sticking.

It's a lot more laid back in the solo section than the track days. Less chance of anything bad happening since speeds are low and there arent walls to run into.

Also should include: (May be more depending on the inspector)

• Loose items in the car and trunk removed - clothes, change, bottles, books, tools...
• Seat belt inertia lock works or harness installed
• Gas cap is on (loved this one a couple of years ago)
• Helmet is M or SA
• Numbers are visible enough for corner workers to see. (no light yellow on gold please)
• Tires have tread with no cord showing
• Hub caps have been removed.
• Some regions will ask that the driver's side floor mat is removed to keep it from interfering with the pedals.
• No oil or fluid leaks

Thanks you guys. My car is still "track ready" from my last outing in terms of being cleaned out and all that. I'm getting some work done this week (finally getting my brake pedal adjusted - YAY) so I'll have all the good stuff checked while it's in the shop. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to show up Sunday and be asked for a pre-completed tech form signed off by a mechanic as is required for some track events. So I should be good to go.

Kathy,an autox tech inspection is truly no more than any conscienscious car owner would insist upon to drive a vehicle daily.Ironically ,car folks are notorious risk takers and will try to skate a bonafied safety risk right by tech while shrugging it off like it was nothing .Most of the time ,its so boneheaded it just surprises even myself (a ASE mastertech for 20 years ).You might would be surprised that on my first autox appearance ,I failed tech due to an unrestrained battery .

Mr Greg Lee said to me at an autox school......."sir that is not going to fly !!You are going to have to bolt down that battery and you really should have a cover over that positive battery cable terminal."So being the overachiever I am ...I drove safely but quickly back to my home and welded a fixture together to fasten the battery and fabbed a cover for the terminal (which I still use today ).

Little trivia... but looking back ...it is still funny to me that it wasn't something I considered a priority at the time .I knew better but I didnt do better until I failed tech LMAO.
