  • How/where to get some practice?

Hi guys. I am going to try to make points 6, but was curious is there anywhere I can go and pay some cash and get some practice driving Solo? Getting in six runs was great my first time out, but I sure could benefit from an afternoon of practice driving Solo style to learn faster.

Any suggestions? I'm in Auburn, but don't mind a drive. Heck, its a Miata after all.

    Thanks.

Roger, not sure where you could "practice" other than at an actual event. However, being in Auburn puts you within easy driving distance of three regions: us, Atlanta, & Wiregrass. You could likely make as many events as you desire.

It is several months away, but TAC in Huntsville has a performance driving school each spring that is a lot of fun. It is an optional Friday night classroom session, an all-day school on Saturday, and an autocross on Sunday to practice what you've learned.

Other regions may have similar schools as well.

On the commercial side, this school has been in business for quite a few years, and has a great reputation - http://www.evoschool.com/

Here's another school that's much newer, and hasn't kept their calendar up to date, which is not a good sign - http://www.soloprodrivingschool.com/home

Either will probably cost a relative bundle, i.e., over $200. Many folks swear by this sort of instruction, however.

Thanks for the tips guys. While I'd like to do more events, the drive and life obligations make it more of an occasional treat. I'll check the other regions and the schools out.

I didn't feel all that connected driving my Miata on the course as I do most of the time. It was fun, but so far outside normal. I just need more seat time. Everyone was super in helping me. Nowhere to go but up though, as I was at the bottom of the PAX! ;>)

The Evolution Driving Schools are excellent, just to throw in a word for them. I've been to two of them, and they were probably the best thing that happened to my driving
