Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

Or, you could just run in XP and do pretty much anything you want and not worry about anything. Get that driver mod, and super FTD all over the place. Done.

I think I'll buy an oem bumper cover, run STR legally, and still run all over XP.

(I've always wanted to use that emoticon b/c I'm an internet badass.)

You'll be sad when I make a ton of money one day and have an actual XP car and decimate.

You are wrong about the modification piece. 2010 rule 14.2.F specifically allows for "modified OE bumper covers". That's the language that led to at least a handful of folks making rear bumper covers look like a CSP car's brake rotors. It starts off by saying the allowances are for things that provide no advantage at Solo speeds, but the rule was so poorly written that that part has proved irrelevant. That statement is irrelevant regarding wings & splitters as well, because the same rule went on to describe exactly wing configurations are allowable.

BTW, I just realized this whole discussion is just a mental exercise. The rewrite of 14.2.F that I quoted in post #6 of this thread IS the 2011 rule, so it has been in effect all year. The quote in your last paragraph is no longer applicable.

Agreed, spirit of the rules is different to each person. But the person that matters is the person that deems you legal or not.

I didn't see the "modified OE bumper covers" section. But I did notice that they listed specific rules for wings and splitters. So basically SCCA just made a cluster-f of the whole thing and now they are having to rewrite rules. Oh wait...they always seem to make the rules a cluster-f.

But yes, all this is for not bc the 2011 has been rewritten. I had to go and find the 2010 rules to see how poorly they wrote them.

            UPDATED QUESTION:

If I buy a stock bumper with fog light holes do I have to mount fog lights? Can I cover the holes with abs plastic? Can I just leave them open?

No, you do not need the foglights. The changes to the Street Touring rules for 2011 specifically allow the removal of factory foglights. That's why mine are missing

BTW, the empty holes provide exactly the same amount of illumination as the pathetic fogs in the 99-00 Miatas
