Actually speaking of brakes ...if you read the fasttrack for the last few months, the rules on brakes have changed.Any brake rotor of the same size or larger is allowed.Any caliper of the same size or larger is allowed.Strangely enough...they cannot be smaller than original but they can be larger.Thats what I read.Does anyone else recall that ?
At any rate, thought Id throw that in for those who cares to research it and prove me right or wrong.Threadjack is now terminated.

Well, if you look at it from a technical standpoint, the only thing larger brakes do better, is diffuse heat through more surface area. They weigh more, which adds to rotational mass, and use more energy to engage/disengage. By getting larger brakes, you really do nothing more than prevent bad brake fade. Your stopping time, skidpad g's, etc will not change at any statistically significant rate, you will just have colder brakes.
Now, brake rotor/pad material makes a huge difference, in not only weight but also stopping power/cooling, etc.. In the end though, quality pads on stock rotors/calipers will give you better braking than buying that brembo big brake kit with the slotted/crossdrilled rotors and 10 piston calipers.. You just have to deal with being less of a pimp.M. Cholewa
Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

Agreed the only place I see larger brakes being much of an advantage is on a track where you need to get rid of the heat. You aren't going to have that problem at a SOLO.
Maybe they were thinking smaller could mean less rotational mass which would help with braking distance(until overheated) and acceleration.Chris Mahaffey

I think the main aim of the comment "so long as it serves no other purpose "... leaves it nice and open ended.I think they were refering to weight savings and also safety when they said larger rather than smaller. That was my take, but hey if they wanna let me run bigger brakes ,I ain't gonna turn it down .
