  • Atlanta Region SOLO event this Sunday

Points 5 at Turner Field - May 22
Session A will be running in the morning and Session B will be running in the afternoon.
    - Session A: Stock and ST classes; Time only
    - Session B: SP, P, M, F125, and SM classes along with PRO; Time only
    - FJ classes will run in the 2nd run group of the morning.
    - Novice class will always run in the afternoon in order to allow the novices time to get ride-alongs in the last morning session. (Novices will be split between the two afternoon heats.)

Pre-Registration is required for our events. Registration fees are $33 for card carrying SCCA members and $43 for non-members.

    2011 Run Groups Organization:

    - The day will be split up into 2 sessions, morning and afternoon, each having 2 run groups.
    - The sessions will alternate each event, running either morning or afternoon.
    - The session split will allow participants to know ahead of time when they are running over the whole season, relative to the morning and afternoon sessions.
    - The actual division of the sessions into the two run groups will be determined based on registration numbers and will be posted on the day of the event. The session attendance will be balanced across 2 run groups, rotating the classes so that the same classes are not always running 1st in the session.
    - There will be separate morning and afternoon check in and tech.

Time Only Runs - You may sign up in Time Only as your class in either the morning session or the afternoon session. Times will not officially be recorded or posted in results. Additional time only runs will no longer be allowed on a walk-up basis. We are offering a separate registration for additional Time Only runs, and there will be a cap of 20 participants.

Novice Orientation - Atlanta Region offers one of the finest novice programs in the country! Our novice class is limited to 20 participants each event. You will receive information on how to prepare for your first autocross experience after registering. Please be advised: Payment for those participating in the novice orientation class will be collected within 2 days of signing up. Questions? Check out our forum on http://www.soloatlanta.com for more info on our Novice Orientation Program. The Solo 101 thread gives you very pertinent information.

I'm afraid the blue car will be back on jack stands by the end of the week so I'm out.

Can someone explain the "Time Only" thing to me?
            M. Cholewa

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

Fun runs that you pay for. It's like running without competing... I'm not sure I totally understand it yet either, or at least I don't understand the real benefit. Unless you get more runs.

                  Explanation of "Time Only"

Our policy for Time Only has changed for this season. In previous years, participants were required to run in their open or designated class before signing up for time only runs. This year, you have the freedom to sign up for TO as a stand-alone entry.

Some people may be confused about the purpose of Time Only runs or what they should sign up for when registering...
                  * If you have a conflict with your regular class's session for an event and still want to participate, you may sign up for TO in the session that works for you (TO am or TO pm).
                  * If your regular class is running in the morning session and you would like to stick around for TO runs in the afternoon, then you sign up for TO on site and pay cash at afternoon check-in. Special rule: You cannot run TO in the morning session, then compete in your regular class in the afternoon. This gives you an advantage over the others in your class and is unfair to those competing for points.
                  * If you just want to drive the heck out of your car and don't care about points or trophies, register for TO am and bring cash for additional TO runs in the afternoon session.

Should you choose to sign up for TO, your times will not be recorded in results and cannot count toward season points in your regular class. You must also work as assignment for each session in which you participate.

We strongly encourage folks to run in their regular classes. Competition is fun and you can learn so much from driving with others in similarly prepped cars. But we also encourage people to have as much fun as they can handle and take those extra TO runs. How do we improve our autocross skills? Seat time!

                  See you on course!

well, if you could pay to run, and not have to work a station, that could be appealing to some. Especially if your group was running at a time that you couldn't necessarily be there for. I could see that being a draw, and plus, its more money in the hands of the region.

but if everyone did it we'd have no workers.

So when you sign up do you have a choice to do "time only" or points? So they're running fun runs along side points runs?

I guess when I first read it it seemed like it was time only for the entire event.

This is all part of the Secret Car Club of America speak. We try as hard as possible to make this as confusing as possible to all those possibly involved.

You still have to work if you do Time Only. And if you run/work in the morning with your class, and do TO in the afternoon, you also have to work the afternoon. (per the rules that John copy/pasted)
