  • Front sway bar change in stock class

Anyone know how front sway bar changes came to be allowed in stock class? I'm curious what the line of thinking was there.

Many cars (such as A1 VWs) came from the factory with no front bar, and therefore could really lean in corner and create a safety hazard (i have seen a Scirocco flip at Nationals). I believe they allowed additions and changes for that reason, but may be wrong. Just enjoy!

I've heard similar things. It was made to allow for cars with no front bar to add one.

That's how I remember that being explained.

Wow. Thanks for the history lesson.

I wonder if the affected cars had a shiny-side-down problem on street tires, too, or only on sticky race tires.

I remember seeing that Scirocco go over. IIRC, it was in the last run of the last heat of the last day. He went over diagonally over his left front corner. He wasn't being stupid either. Forbes Field offered lots of grip and localized elevation changes.

No way. I've never seen a Focus running around with one or more tires off the ground . . . nope . . . never.
