  • Clutch issue on Infiniti G35

I have a 2005 Infiniti G35, recently the clutch has been sticking to the point where i have to snake my foot behind it and pop it out. Any ideas what the problem could be? I have looked at the Infiniti/350Z forums but couldn't find any answers.

Sounds like it could be a bad slave cylinder or something ... loss of pressure or fluid. Have you tried to bleed the clutch to see if there is air or if it will pressurize at all?

I had a similar problem on a previous 07 350Z. The clutch slave cylinder was weak. You need to get it to the dealer or a repair shop since it could compromise your safety.

Not only that, but an improperly engaging clutch will cause premature wear on the clutch and synchros.

I found the part online for $40. any idea how much it would be to get it replaced?

Getting to it is likely much more difficult than replacement. Slave cylinders are usually only held on by a few bolts and a line for the fluid. It shouldn't be too expensive.

I dunno how much harder it is to get to on a G35, but on my 240 you can just jack the car up and get to it pretty easily from the side. It should be pretty easy to replace as long as it isn't a turd to get to.

                Instructions from Alldata:

                1. Drain Clutch Fluid
                2. Remove clutch hose from operating cylinder.
                3. Remove operating cylinder mounting bolt and then remove operating cylinder from vehicle.

It sounds like its pretty easy to get to. lol

I had a similar issue with my '06 350z. The recommendation I found online was, surprisingly, to just flush and fill the clutch system. Before trying that, I just cycled my clutch back and forth a number of times (with the engine off, of course) and it's not been an issue since.

Easy, quick job. Its sits on the side of the bell housing. Left side. 2 10mm bolts. Remove the fluid line first before the 10 mills. Its best if you have someone with you to help bleed it. Plus if you dont have a lift, its good if someone is around just in case the car falls on your head. Good luck!

The clutch is fixed. It appears that the slave cylinder was the issue. Thanks everyone for the advice. The car ran really well at the autocross yesterday. Ricky thanks for doing the work so quickly.
