Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

What speeds were you guys getting to today?
I stopped by to check out the new track, and I may have to invest in dirt tires....but the new surface does look better (even after it's been flooded...it looks superior to the dog track).

Hopefully I'll make it out next time, although the hunstville events are now a viable option for tracvel time for me.

I used a gps app on my phone to track top speed. The best I got was 40MPH

If my tires would have been capable of holding traction, I probably would have gotten to 60 a few times, but for the most part it's relatively low speed. (tight course)

I just reviewed the video of my fastest run. Top speed was ~45 mph which was reached in spots on course. That was a 44.1 second run.

We really weren't planning to have a N vs S event this year. In talking with Ric Hamby at the end of last year we had planned to have 4 events that were going to be considered the Alabama Solo Series. Basically it was going to be a few events in Huntsville and a few events in Birmingham, and then we would take the best 2 events at each location and determine the winner from that.

Since that fell through a bit due to the change over with the Solo Chair for TVR (luckily you stepped up Mike) I don't see any reason that we shouldn't be able to determine a N vs S event now. Part of the reason that we were going to try something different was the fact that Milton Frank was "up in the air" as far as how much it would be available. However it seems this year it has been used quite a bit.

It looks like we have a Saturday Sunday event schedule in July. We could claim that weekend as North v South.

I thought Mike was asking about the "Super Summer Solo Shootout" and not the NvS 2 day event.

You are correct John. I want another chance at Lyle.

BTW, I am not the TVR Solo Chair. Mark Rothermel is by default. I am doing the sanction paperwork and running the 1st event this Saturday.

Yeah. I can see that now. Shoot Out in the original question would probably mean SSSS.

I think the neural pathways are a little out of kilter right now.

We all want another chance at Lyle. His name is on that trophy far too often.
