Info for the 2011 Solo Season....

We have new co-chairs for the 2011 Solo Season. John Waight and Darryl Engle did a fantastic job last season and we hope to build on their success. Myself (Mark Kilgore) and John Kilgore are the new co-chairs.

We are putting out some of the general information for the 2011 season including rules, membership forms, championships, and soon enough a schedule (stay tuned).

Not much is going to change from last year. Hopefully the event site is going to change, but that is still TBA.

    Cost

    Regular members of SCCA: $30.00
    Non-members with a weekend membership form: $40.00
(The weekend membership form is filled out during registration, day of event)
First timer entry fee: $25.00 (lower entry fee for first timers to get a taste of Solo)
Family Discount available: Full price for first driver, $5 off second driver, $10 off third or more driver (must be SCCA members to receive discount)

There are three PDF’s attached that address the following:

We have supplemental rules regarding the Solo events and how points are scored and some rules that everyone needs to know.

We also have a pdf of the article that Matt Williams wrote up about solo for the first timers. What to do and what to expect are explained so that new and first time members can have an idea of what goes on during a typical solo event. Hopefully this info will help novices and old timers alike.

I have attached a SOLO Flyer for 2011 that you can print off and hand out with info if you'd like.

Even if we find a better site, it might not be a bad idea to maintain a relationship with the current venue by holding at least a couple events a year, there.

That way, if ownership changes (or just changes its mind,) you have a fallback position.

That will be the plan, Chuck. We will begin a system similar to what TVR has. Several events a year at different locations. Obviously there are still many things to work out. Meetings are being conducted this last week of January with several different groups, including our current location at the Dogtrack. The problem we have with the dogtrack is that it seems the incredibly cold weather and wet winter we have had thus far has done a severe amount of damage to the lower part of the parking lot that we used over the last several events. There are also twice as many trucks parking there as last year.

We have been incredibly lucky to have such a good relationship with the Dogtrack and the rental agreement we have with them. We do not want to have any negative effect on this.

As we have stated, we will be keeping everyone updated on these events and will have the schedule available very soon.

          Thanks,

          John

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.
