I sold my S-10 and now I am just trying to keep my wife from spending the money on bills before I can piss it away on stuff for my car.

Anyone know where I can buy a halfway decent 3/4 ton dodge with a cummins diesel for $2500. or so ?

As far as the truck goes, keep an eye on atlanta craigslist, and some of the nashville/memphis/chatanooga CL. They pop up every now and then.

Sure. Right here in Huntsville.

Be sure to drive that older diesel on the interstate to check the gearing - mine would top out just below 70 mph with no load, and couldn't break through 65 with a 10,000 lb. trailer - that's foot-on-the-floor wide-open running just to try to stay out of the way of traffic. The thing got up to speed OK, but was wound up tight all day on the highway.

I chickened out on the "no filter", just no way to seal everything up well enough to pull it off.

I don't think that using an air filter is "chicken". Intelligent to be sure though.
