  • North vs South Day two

After counting and recounting, it looks like TVR has prevailed once again. Although we showed up with 30 drivers it was just not enough to stem the tide from last weekend. I was very proud to have so many of our drivers show up from the Alabama region, you made your club proud.

Region Oct 10 Oct 17 Total
    ALSCCA 728 485 1213
    TVR 603 878 1481

I'm not going to say TVR played dirty but...

Opening the sewer on our Evo contingency was uncalled for.
Drew P. is a turn coat and blew his tour ride for the 2011 season.
It took ALSCCA cars to get TVR 50% of their winning points.

Results from the entire event, thanks Mike C.

    Thanks for the event.

    In rebuttal
The sewer was a stroke of luck. We cannot take credit for it.
    Drew is from Huntsville.
Not sure where you get that number but we will take them with grace.

See you later folks and you are welcome to come up anytime. Oct 31 is the next TAC event and it is at John Hunt Park.

      Thanks Darryl

      Darryl,

Thanks for riding with me and helping me learn today. Your support is much appreciated. Thanks to Eric Edwards for my first ride and thanks to Rod for his help as well. You guys and all the folks at BRC as well as Huntsville made me feel welcome and just poured fuel on the fire that is getting me hooked on this. Is there a post somewhere that would have todays results for everyone?

      Thanks,
      Barry

          Thanks

By the way.. Your Dad was very nice to me as well. What a group! I am glad you talked me into driving rather than sitting on the sidelines. I have been on an adrenaline rush since the first run.

            Novice

            Mike,
Since today was my first event, should I have been in the novice class? I really didn't know much about the whole thing but learned a lot today. Thanks for all your help.

Probably if I read you posts correctly but it would not have changed anything. You still had fun. Come back in the Spring for our Performance Drivers School.

I still say Drew was our driver, but I don't think it would have made enough difference to matter.

its cause we all ran the same class. If we had all had different classes to run in we coulda done it.

Raw time and Pax times were the only things that mattered. Run the class that has the best index for the car. Maybe more points should be awarded for traveling? With 30 AL members showing up, I'm surprised that TVR came out on top. It was definitely fun see all of you up here.

                      What a shock.

But yes it was fun! It's great to go against another club as a whole, I wish C and I could have put down some better times but I guess it was just not our day. It was probably the sewer, got us all dazed and confused.

Thanks to all the ALSCCA drivers that went up to fight the good fight. Considering we usually have 40-50 people at our normal events, 30 is an AWESOME number of traveling folks. There is always next year.

Yep, I shoulda took John up on the offer to run his Toyos on my car. Probably couldn't have caught Mr Cavanaugh no matter what I did, but I would have had a better excuse (stupid borrowed tires, etc)

After looking over these results I will say both clubs were big winners. We had our highest attendance all season and TVR did the same. We had 30 people make the trip from Alabama Region to defend the honor of ALSCCA. That is a record! And TVR had folks come out and Autocross that hadn't done it in a while. That's great! We tried to overwhelm TVR with numbers but they beat us in the pax trenches. Oh well, it's the fun of competition and joy of hanging out with your friends in a smelly cess pool like setting. Our novices took up the challenge and drove well and hopefully realized the fun in traveling to other sites and different regions. One of our novices made this his first event. That's fantastic! I'm impressed with the turnout and proud to have you all in our little family. Next year will need some strategizing involved. We had several drivers all in the same classes while some of their drivers were spread out among the various classes thereby improving their pax numbers. Regardless, we all did well, had fun and now we have to deliver the "Revolving NvS Toyota Trophy" to TVR to display in their trailer. Great job to everyone who made the trip, I'm proud of you!!

Agreed John, it was a great day all the way ' round. I am particularly proud of my "little" 15 yr old boy Ben taking 3rd novice on that fast course. I've got a feeling I may have my hands full sharing the car with til at least June next year.

Looks like the traveling points are backwards on day 2.

Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?
