Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

  • Do I need a muffler?

I bought a rear sway bar, and wouldn't you know it, it won't fit. Not because the brackets don't line up or the bar is too long or anything. Nope, its because I have a big ass muffler from the aftermarket exhaust right in the spot where the bracket is supposed to go! I love working on cars.
    So my options are:
    1) Run without the sway bar (99.9% sure I DON'T want to do this)
    2) Run without muffler
    3) Get a smaller universal muffler, take it to a shop and hope they get it right the first time

I hate spending money replacing parts. I espescially hate spending $250+ on a part to get a $50 part to work! I use my car daily so it looks like option 3, just thought I'd bitch about it first!

      Handling supercedes sound.

Atlanta Region and Tennessee Valley Region may have a problem with noise as well as any National Tour but around Bham, not so much.

+1 for no muffler! Maybe you could still pass sound!

Any chance a fabricator could just move the muffler a few inches one way or just a hanger for the clearance you need? I could recommend several guys to help with it. Can you post a pic of the issue?

If you still have a cat and/or a resonator, that should be sufficient to keep it tamed down.

              FYI

              From 2010 SCCA Solo Rules-

              3.5 MUFFLERS
Adequate mufflers are required for Solo events. The criterion of “adequacy”
is not what the exhaust system consists of, but the sound level.
Any car deemed by the Event Chairman or his designated representative
to be excessively loud shall not compete without acceptable modifi
              cations installed on the car.
