  • UPDATE on Verizon

As many of you know I have been trying for months to acquire the Verizon Wireless Music Center as a site to run our solo events. So far I've been really encouraged from talking with the manager of the site and I have been really disappointed. I just wanted to let you all know that it doesn't look very promising at this point to hold our next event there. I've called several times and there just doesn't seem to be much excitement on their part to make it happen. Several calls have been made and many messages left and to this point I haven't heard back from them. I won't call it a done deal but I told you at the last event that I would make an announcement but this isn't what I had in mind. Though this seems like a setback it won't keep us from having fun at BRC.

Keep in mind, I don't give up. I'll keep trying to find a site suitable for our events and you do the same.

Does anyone know if John Carrol High School holds mass on Saturday or Sundays at the campus. If not, they have a nice parking lot on the backside of the school.

Anyone Catholic here? anyone have any contacts?

Also, this place? There is a huge lot there, trucks everywhere, but the lot where the cars are parked looks pretty large in and of its own. IF they don't work Sat and Sunday it could be a possibility. Anyone close to Lakeshore?

In my experiences with JCH, they are quite snobby and rude to outsiders and have very strict policies. Theres a snowballs chance in hell of getting there.

btw, this place is out. I drove by there and looked it over and they have fences setup all over the parking lot area to keep out rift raft i guess.

Anyway, whatever happened to the car auction site?

Last I heard it was shut down. Noise complaints, loud music and lots of tire noise and revving engines isn't a good way to impress folks that live in the area.

We need an airport or industrial area anything close to houses or churches will be an issue.

That is of course unless you are BRC . There are 2 major churches and a nudy bar all within a 2 mile radius.

I think the drift groups downfall was_ primarily_ the hours they decided to try and keep. I think if they had done some conservative middle of the day hours and worked their way in quietly they would likely have had more success.

I took the better part of yesterday "lunch hour" (or two) driving around the lakeshore area because they have a huge new industrial area. The problem with the area is that everyone has decided to put freaking "green islands" throughout the parking lots. My Dad is very big in the airplane scene and I have been trying to find out from him about some airports that would be available. I'm still talking with him about this and hoping that we can find something from that. An abandoned airfield would be great, however the only one that is around is down in Selma or the Government has taken over the land (there are more military projects going on in your backyard then you know about).

Okay, so did the car auction site just disappear? Does someone still own the land, or have they built something on top of it?

I'm also thought yesterday while I was driving around that if someone in the club had an insider at one of these large building management firms that lease buildings and land maybe they could help track down some asphalt or concrete for us?

I've been considering contacting a Real Estate person to find us a lot that we can rent on a month to month basis. Craigslist? Can we get an Obama grant to buy property to build a site and study the wear patterns of Hoosier tires under certain continual loads?

I like that idea....the real estate part. Maybe even Craigslist... use some of these modern day tools to help us out.

As far as the Islands in newer lots.. normally that is a local government regulation now concerning the amount of green space required.

Hmm.... and yeah.. there has got to be some type of Grant we could apply for...just need to think outside the box.
