  • Saturday and Sunday, 6/12-13 in Huntsville

I was going to post that TVR is having an event on Saturday at Milton Frank Stadium and an autocross school (max. 40 students) on Sunday. Bitchin' deal on both days for $60. Signup at Axware.

Then I realized I get more runs if you guys stay home.

I am tempted to comeout just to take runs from you Mike. I miss you guys out at Huntspatch .

I gotta work Saturday or I would be swayed pretty hard to do this .

If any of you are on the fence and have not done a TVR/TAC event ....you would be cheating yourself if you didnt do this . These guys and gals put on a great day of solo.

I'm in. I'm postponing dyno time on my racecar just to steal runs from Mike.

Milton Frank is the mostest awesomest place to autocross within 100miles of here. Don't miss it!

I *think* I'm in too, though I missed the online registration. I hope to not only steal runs from Mike but also a trophy in STR. Of course, that last task may involve taking said trophy from his car when he's packing to leave!

I would have LOVED to come to this, but I kinda promised my parents that I'd go home to work on a couple cars this weekend. I also don't have a passenger seat belt buckle in the GTI, so I wouldn't be able to let folks ride (for instructional purposes, of course).

          You guys have fun!

Anybody want to fill me in? What exactly will they teach and what time (8AM)? Since I ran my first autoX in 17 years last weekend I could use some practice. I thought a 6th out of 15 in novice wasn't bad in a 20 year old CRX with wal-mart tires.

Awesome event! You did miss out. I went to the Autocross on Saturday along with Rod Hardiman and Griffin Burkett. I won't lie, it was hot. Triple digits hot but the course was fast and treacherous, it would feed you plenty of rope to hang yourself with. In the morning session of 4 runs, I spun out twice. The afternoon session was a different story. Both Rod and Griffin did well in their classes as well and looks like they had a great time too. Rod was in the 51's about a 1 second back and Griffin was consistently in the 55 range.
TVR had a smaller than normal turnout which meant a lot of course to cover with only a few workers. But Pappy (Rich Hamby) took care of the corner workers with Popsicles being delivered to each corner station throughout the day. As hot as it was they were about melted before you could get them opened.
The trip was well worth it and the seat time on one the best autocross surfaces in the southeast was invaluable. I had planned to just use the street tires since the CSP class was small, but Brett in a BS S2000 was tearing up FTD and I just had to try and get him. I swapped to the 13" wheels for the afternoon session and set out after Bretts best time. I did it on my last run, breaking into the 47 second range. During the run, maybe it was the heat, but I swear a wormhole opened up and I was being transported through another dimension right to the finish line. Everything was a blur and the car went where it needed to go as though I was just along for the ride. Another great TVR event.

Thanks to Pappy, John, Leon for a job well done!

I echo John's comments...it was a great day. For full disclosure, I only got into the 51s once and coned that one away just before the finish. STR was tough with Mike & Josh Cavanaugh and a two-driver s2000 CR that took the class. Showed me how much work I've got to do and also set a good baseline as I start to mod my still CS-legal car.

I would have loved to see what Matt & his Evo would have done on that course!

I felt pretty good about the day. Geoff Walker generally is 2 seconds ahead of me in Nashville and after 4 runs I was ahead him. He finshed big at the end of the day but still less than 2 sec. Randall his mentor is insanely fast in anything. Josh did extremely well for never having autocrossed the car. I barely caught him on the last run on a OMG moment.

                    Thanks for coming up guys.
