I was planning on coming out to the Alabama Region event on the 6th. Turns out that's the SSSSSSSSSSShootout. So... er... for the completely uninitiated: what exactly is the format for that?

Maff, The shootout is a pax based shootout at the end of the event. The top 8 paxed drivers compete in a shootout format where the driver that improves on his/her best time advances and the drivers that fail to improve their best time lose. Typically we do this on a 2 minute long course but due to the small confines of our current site it has been discussed and we've decided to postpone until we can acquire a larger site. We used to make a big deal about it and have shirts printed up and food onsite etc etc. We are currently on a site search mode and don't want to degrade the Shootout by running on a 30 second course.

Ah, totally understood. I had heard some rumblings about the site problems, sorry to hear about that. Regardless, I'll be out there, and I'll have a buddy of mine from Prattville in the car out at his 1st event, so it should be fun
