I figured vs. clogging up the Points #4 event thread I would create a new one with a few questions.

Can I just use masking tape for my number/class? Is there a specified location on the car or what size they need to be?

If my car is totally stock but I leave my added strut tower bar what class should I change my registration to? I am not going to be competitive for any class so it doesn't really make me any difference where my car gets placed and I would rather do that then pull the STB off for each even I plan to attend.

What time to I need to arrive in order to pay, get tech done and I guess familarize myself with the course?

How much $ do I need to bring for my first event?

I supposed standard tire pressures will be fine?

Thanks in advance...I am looking forward to attending.

I'll give it a shot and I'm sure others will chime in

Tape is fine, just make sure it contrasts with your car color so corner workers can see it. Numbers should be a minimum of 8" high and letters 4", but with tape you will be bigger than that. You will put them on the door. Wait til you go through registration and they will make sure your number choice is okay.

Leaving the STB in puts you in BSP

I suggest getting there no later than 9:00, preferably 8:30ish which should give you plenty of time to register & have the car teched before the novice meeting & course walk.

New this year is a first timer discount, so you'll need $25. After that it is $30 for SCCA members, $40 for nonmembers

Standard pressure will almost certainly be too low. We have a compressor onsite. Depending on your tire size you may want to start about 40 psi (perhaps someone with similar size tires will chime in...my meotter has little ol'15s). You want the higher than normal pressures to keep the tires from rolling onto the sidewalls.

Standard operating procedure is to start high on your pressures and mark the shoulders of your tires with chalk or shoe polish. After your first run you will be able to see if the tires are rolling over and, if not, take a little pressure out for the next run. This process will let you work down to where you need to be.

Also bring something to drink, money for or bring a lunch (sometimes someone shows up and sells food but don't count on it), sunscreen, some type of chair is nice and comfortable walking shoes. Don't be afraid to ask questions, autocross people are some of the most helpful folks you will ever meet.

I don't think they do, but are the M roadsters coming with the runflats? If they are you can definitely run around the course without having to worry too much about sidewalls rolling. I have an e30 with 255's rear and 225's front. I run about 36 psi front and 31-32psi rear.

But don't worry, there will be plenty of people giving you "knowledge" and telling you about the old times (Mike Cavanaugh, DA Branch ). You could talk to 3 people and have 3 different setups. No matter what, someone will be there to help you out with whatever you need.

They are not run flats. I may be mistaken but I think they opt for non-rft on all M cars. I am definately not complaining as many of the non-M owners swap to non-rft for their first "mod". They say the Bridgestones tramline like crazy.
