I found a pic of one that shows the enginebay with 2 braces that go from the strut tower to the middle of the firewall (one on eash side).

The easiest thing to do if it is an OEM accessary item is to unbolt it before the event (should take all of 5 min).Car options have to be from available as factory or port installed. If it is not available that way, it cannot be legally installed at the dealer or after.
But more than likely, most drivers will not care that it is there at a local level. You can always ask the other drivers in your class if they mind, and if not, then you are good to go.
It is all about fun at a local level. So come out and drive. Hook up with some of the more seasoned drivers and ride with them or get them to ride with you to hasten your Solo saviness!

Clay talking legality of stock classes ... lol.

But, he's right. To be legal, you'd need to remove the strut bar, or bump up to SP. Yes, no one would really care locally, but for your peace of mind I'd suggest removing it. SCCA is all about rules. May as well get used to following them.

As far as PAX, you nailed it on your online registration. NAS (N for Novice) is 100% correct (after the strut bar removal). Thanks for taking the time to get your class info and register online. We do appreciate it.

Don't worry about taking the strut bar off or anything like that. Just show up and have fun for this first event. The PAX is basically a "handicap" like in golf so that you can see how you compare to other drivers of other classes easily. The PAX for AS vs. BSP is different, so you can change your classification from NAS, to NBSP either when you get to the event or online. It's much easier to just change your classification whether then changing your car. All that really matters is your time anyway.
There are people who want to build a car for a specific class, and then there are people who have a car and just put it in a class. As a fellow BMW driver my advice to you is to get used to being "hated on" by the SCCA classifications, they are very unfair to BMW's, but that is the nature of the beast, just take it as a compliment to the car.
No matter what, it is an absolute blast and you will have more fun than should be allowed with your clothes on!!!!
If you have any questions just hit me up, I'll be glad to answer them or help you out any way I can. I am trying to brainwash all of the ALSCCA into the BMW fold, so the more BMW people we can get the better.
