  • Rules and Standards

Okay so I'm reading through the Solo rules and I don't see anywhere in Stock, Street Touring, Street Prepared, and Street Modified where you are allowed interior (passenger compartment) changes except for modifications to the sunroof mechanism, various rules on seats, radios, and steering wheels. Therefore, am I correct in thinking that NO modifications other than what is specifically stated in print is allowed?

Not until you are in a Prepared category can you make changes to Passenger compartment surfaces and materials? The car has to be AS FROM THE FACTORY unless it says you can take something out?

I know I am generalizing alot here, but I am just trying to grasp the concepts for the Street Modified category that seems to be based on Liter to Weight ratio and tire size.

Everything on the inside must match the the cars trim. So if you're 325 came as the S, but you want SE seats, you need to replace everything that would have been different on the SE.. Something like that.

I think people can help you more if you tell us what the modifications you want to do are, and whether they will be allowed in your class.

There is the vague "comfort and convenience" allowance for items that do not give a performance advantage, but it seems like it just provides bait for protests.

I believe you're correct though...you can only do that which is specifically allowed by the rules.

SM cars get weighed at national tour events. I wonder why that is ? That is the extent of my contribution to this conversation.

For some reason, I thought you could remove the rear panels/seat in SM ... I'll have to re-read it.

EDIT :: Yup, looks like you are tight. Sunroof, rear seats, airbags and stereo/speakers are all that can be removed it seems. Unless you can find something in ST/SP that allows for more, that's it.
