  • Test n Tune Saturday, February 27th

I've had a few folks wanting to know about the upcoming TestnTune on Saturday,
    February 27.

Here's the deal. This is not a points or competitive event. Cones will not be called in. Results will not be posted online. It will be a shorter course than normal to minimize cone pickup and maximize the drive time. It's a testntune session for you and your car. It's a chance to knock off the winter rust and remember what AutoX is like. It is also a chance for the setup crew to TestnTune various bits of equipment making sure it's good to go before the 1st event. If you're a novice, this is a great opportunity for seat time and to ask someone to ride with you and give you some pointers.

ALL DRIVERS MUST WORK A CORNER FOR ONE SESSION.

There will be 5 sessions with a 15 minute break between sessions to allow for worker/driver swap and allow us to print out the cumulative results to that point. If the printer and the new timing system is working right, results will be displayed on the trailer.

    The schedule is as follows:
Registration opens at 7:30a closes at 9:00a
Tech inspections from 8:00a til 9:00a
Sign up for worker station and time (workers to stations) 9:00a -10:00a

    Drive Session #1 10:00a - 11:00a
    Drive Session #2 11:15a - 12:15p
    Drive Session #3 12:30p - 1:30p
    Drive Session #4 1:45p - 2:45p
    Drive Session #5 3:00p - 4:00p

Your entry fee and 1 hour of work will get you 4 hours of drive time! What a deal considering a lot of driving for a typical day on an autocross course is less that 10 minutes.

The usual SCCA code of conduct will apply. Out of control drivers will be talked to and if they continue to be out of control they will be asked to leave. We want you to have fun,
but we want to keep it safe.

At the end of the day we'll need help cleaning up the lot and loading the truck.
Your help is requested and appreciated.

Any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

    Thanks,
    SOLO TEAM

40 for non members and 30 for members I believe, standard cost as it is an actual event.

I'm wondering if there is going to be a skid pad, slalom practice, and a mini course?

All events are held at the Birmingham Race Course on John Rogers Drive in East Birmingham.

Since you are a novice you will need to fill out a weekend membership form which is available at the registration trailer at the event.

Come out and have a fun time, catch rides with folks and see what its all about.

go to this thread to see about solo:

The course will be a shorter than normal course that will have a couple of offset gates, slalom and the pin cone at the bottom of the course. If we have the space we'll put up a skid pad in the lower course closest to the restroom. (Easier access for barfing)

The idea is to help setup your car for some of the features you'll see on a course and get the rust knocked off. This isn't a competitive point event nor is it a school.

Plus we have a new for 2010, First Timers introductory fee for $25.
It's good for the first timers first event, hence the clever name, with a completed SCCA Weekend membership form.
