Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

As I said ...Differant....but good day today with the changes .Everyone showed up and did their thing and made lemonade out of lemons or even lemon seeds as one commented.I was very surprised that course stretched to 53+seconds.

The grid was a bit awkward but we can tweak that .The paddock being so far from the grid was also an issue because we had folks crossing the course while it was hot .All in all...I thought it went very well.

Thanks to all of the setup folks .You guys and gals did a fantastic job .

Yes I was pleasantly surprised at they way things went. I honestly was not looking forward to be limited to the lower lots like we were last time this happened but I think it still ended up be a great event. I’m so glad we still got a 50-60 second course even on our limited space. Everyone did a great job adjusting and working hard in the grid to keep things as calm and organized as possible.

As for the Novice, WOW. I think we had 16-19 there! That is awesome!!!!! I’m so happy that so many are returning every event and new one just keep coming. If our novice keep this up our club will surely continue to grow. Thank you novice!

I was thinking about the grid/paddock layout a little. I didn't mind the paddock setup at all yesterday, but Grid was confusing and no one likes cars crossing like that. Maybe next time we can grid on the lower side of that lot and let that road be the return lane (keep driving past yesterday's trailer location). That would keep the loop and no cars crossing ... ideally.

It did work out okay, except that the 2-driver cars didn't really have good grid positioning. People kept taking our spots. lol.

What Matt said about the two driver cars. Nowhere near enough time was given for the driver swaps. It doesn't matter what order the two driver cars maintain. We need to give these cars and drivers at least double to turn around time they had at this event.

Other than that it was a really fun course and everything went very smooth.

          Thanks Everyone!
I want to take a moment to thank everyone that came out to help with the event setup. This stuff is so easy when a few good folks volunteer to get things going. We had a few glitches with trailer placement and grid and paddock but this is a learning experience with our new arrangement with the Birmingham Race Course. We learned some things that will be implemented at the next event to make things smoother for both paddocking as well as the course.(Man, that parking lot is bumpy in places!) Overall, I think the event went well (i.e. the safety stewards didn't have to fill out any paperwork) everyone got six runs with a lunch break and still home by 4:30. If you have any suggestions to improve the event post up! Your ideas might be the one we need.

Thanks to everyone who help make this event happen:
          Event Chair / Jamie Holladay
          Worker Chief / Vincent Coker
Novice Chief / C and Sara
          Tech Chief / Mike Cholewa
T&S / Matt and Katie, Jordan Townes
          Waivers Mike Wenning,David Branch
Equipment set-up / Michael Cholewa, Eric Brakhage. Sean Yoder in the BAT mobile
          Battery/Gas go getter Alan Branch
Course set-up 1 / Eric Edwards, Darryl Engle
SSS / Mike Cavanaugh, Ricky Ragan
          Devotional / Eric Edwards

I hate to be that guy, but does anyone have results, I missed the trophy presentation. Alan B and I went to change tires on my car (thanks Alan) and when we were done the truck and trailer were gone! I know Mark McWilliams got me by a tic in CSP, I just want to see if it was a tenth or a few hundredths! I'm a glutton for that sort of punishment.

Awesome job by the Novices too!

I'll see you all BRC at Event #8 9/20/09 or at Atlanta Motor Speedway, register here (http://www.soloatlanta.com/forum/vie...php?f=2&t=2198) next weekend or at Barber's on Labor Day

          Thanks everyone!

John, you are that guy. you are ALWAYS that guy.

I'll post them tonight. But, actually, CSP was done before lunch and the summary results were on the trailer before we left for grub.

I had fun yesterday and the course wasn't as tight as I first thought but the Kenny cone before the finish paid a terrible price.

Whomever runs the next event needs to consider some safety items.

Think about the traffic flow and how cars are going to arrive from paddock to grid, grid to start and the return from finish. The traffic flow should not overlap or cross the timing wires. Grid worker yesterday was a traffic cop operation and the attention it took away from the grid extended the heats while we waited for people to finish.

Everyone was great yesterday but moving cars about wasn't convenient or easy. Though the parade from grid was kind of like a hill climb return down the mountain without the waving corner workers. ( Crow Mtn is in 45 days[advertisement, workers, TVR SCCA needs you!])

Just the two lots to the west are bigger than TRSCCA and CRSCCA sites combined. I was wondering yesterday what Scott Dobler (CRSCCA) would do with them. The lot at the top is the least optimal and there is almost a single path through it for autocross. I would use it as paddock and grid. It wouldn't restrict people going to the bathrooms and allows for people to return to paddock from grid for repairs.

              See you at Barbers!

No, Darryl is always THAT guy, I just tag along.

Speaking of leaving for grub, I went to the trailer to drop off a 3 ring binder with info for classing cars and no one was around to watch the trailer. The trailer would be easy pickings for someone with a gambling habit to gain a few goodies to take to a pawn shop. We need to secure the computers and radios when we leave for lunch, either take em with or lock them in a car. Everything was wide open and in plain site. I hope it never happens, but we need to protect our assets now that we share a lot with other folks outside of autocross. Just sayin'
