    I briefly read the rules..

    Am I correct:

That a 16 year-old licensed driver can drive in ax?
A bone stock 1.6 Miata is in class ES (Novice)?
That factory belt and shoulder belt are legal?

    Thanks,

    Todd

Todd, all of that sounds good but you do need a minor waiver. Some one else will have to chime in on that, I think it has to be signed by both parents.

what Darryl says is accurate .The minor waiver does need to be filled out and will slide just fine with the parent whom is present signing it .

Class of the car when it comes to a miata depends on the year model of the miata. All novice participants are scored on the pax and the class of the car determines the pax multiplier.Early miatas are ES and late miatas are CS.The miata saavy folks will chime in and tell u the year model split.I am assuming since its a 1.6 it is pre 94 which is ES.

Found this in the rule book.

For competitors, the Minor Waiver form must be signed by both
parents/legal guardians if the minors are to be drivers/passengers.
For non-competitors, the form may be signed by only one parent/
legal guardian on a per-event basis. If signed by both parents/legal
guardians, the form is valid at all Solo events held in that Region for
the remainder of that calendar year unless otherwise notified.
All parent/legal guardian signatures must be witnessed by an adult
SCCA member. The Region may, at its discretion, require that any
form completed off-site be signed and witnessed in the presence of
an adult SCCA member or a Notary.

So, if the minor is a driver, both parents must sign, preferably on-site, so the signitures can be witnessed. Only one signature required if the minor is NOT driving.

That's what I was basing my comments on.

Another note - I think waivers must be printed in color. B&W copies are not acceptable, IIRC.

Chuck is correct about the color thing...there is some red lettering that is supposed to be printed red on the minor waiver. I jumped through these hoops a few months ago. Fill the waiver out for "All dates" and "All events" so it can be re-used in the future. I would prepare two copies as well...just in case.
