  • TN event contingency plan ...

    I don't mean SCCA "contingency" ... I mean if I can't get home contingency.

I will most definitely not have my tow vehicle acquired by next month. I'm looking at options, such as begging family and renting something to haul with to get Dori up to TN. But, there is a chance we might have to drive her up ... this is not ideal, as she will be together for less than a month with very little testing done to ensure she will make the trip there, race, and get home.

Can any of the AL area guys maybe help me with a contingency plan for the worst case scenario? If Katie and I end up stranded in TN, would anyone maybe have an extra spot on a trailer or the option to drive a car back if I can cover costs?

I just really want to make the event and it's all I can do to finish the car by June. Thanks!

Katie drive the other VW up following you? Then worst case scenario the yellow bug breaks down, flat bed home, you and Katie in the new VW? Just spit balling here.

Have you ask Edwin, or Charles Wright they normally tow it up there. C

Yeah Heath, that's on the table ... taking a second car. C, I'm not sure Edwin's car is legal. Pretty sure Charles' is, but I've leaned on his kindness a lot already. I'm really hoping I don't have to ask for real ...

There is technically no reason the car wouldn't make it there and back ... but you never know.

It's really 50 miles south of Knoxville. Sweet water, tn. It's a pleasant drive from bham.

I'm a little worried about the gearing in the Beetle for the kind of drive. It's on stock gearing, so 70 mph is probably 4500 RPM. I'm going to be taking it easy on the interstate anywhere I go.
