Sounds awesome. I've got a 06 Subaru Leggy NA that I'm dying to take off road. I don't have the appropriate tires per se, nor is my car fast by any means, but I'm just wanting to feel it out and see if it's a sport/hobby I want to pump money into. Where is a good place to get a helmet at a decent price?Originally posted by slowautoxr View PostThis would be the event. Actually any event that AL region or TVR put on are the event to get started.
As far as embarrassing goes..... well that ain't gonna happen. We're all out here to have a good time.

That would be great. Only thing I have even remotely close is my helmet from hockey, lol. I've looked at what standard is via the SCCA guidelines but figured you guys might know a good source. Looking forward to coming out.Originally posted by slowautoxr View PostWe have a few loaner helmets. If you want to buy one, there are some specific requirements that I can point you to.

In my first Rallycross I co-drove a '86 Ford LTD with decade old street all seasons. I looped it like three times in a row (on one run) trying to get up a slick part of the course on a hill and had basically the slowest time of the day.Originally posted by ALHockeyGuy View PostSounds awesome. Fixed.Originally posted by JohnW8 View PostMatt, your car is going to be so nice and clean you'll love getting it all dirty.
That's what everyone keeps saying ... but the thing is I never wanted to paint it. My brother offered to paint it and it needed some kind of covering to fix the rust and such and to protect it over time.
So, letting him do the paint was consolation for his help with the rest.
the shiny paint will look awesome in pics at first and maybe help me nab some sponsors to finish up the build, and then it'll get treated real nice in the dirt.
It's too shiny for me anyway ... =)Matt W.

Haha, sweet. Is it possible to ride with an experienced driver just to get a feel for it before driving the course myself? I see you live in Chelsea so I might try to follow you out there that day... as long as you keep in mind that I'm driving a NA Leggy and can only go so fast, lol.

I'd be all for it, but I will not be attending this event. I'm still working to finish up my car and will most likely be in GA working on it that weekend.Matt W.

Absolutely. Everyone is friendly and the only ones who wouldn't let you ride are those with only 1 seat.Originally posted by ALHockeyGuy View PostHaha, sweet. Is it possible to ride with an experienced driver just to get a feel for it before driving the course myself?
I'm excited about this event.Wes
