  • Got a new RX car....

Was going to buy a Fiero to run MR but the 6 hour round trip and the fact that it's a FIERO seemed to really tick my wife off. She found me a beater Honda Civic for SF and that's what I'll be running.

    Tech question...

With the size of the car and the size of me there's going to be an issue with the seat belt because it mounts to the door and seat placement. Would it pass tech if I get some sort of harness bar and mount a harness for RX?

    First off "welcome to SF"!
Locally there probably would not be a problem, nationally I'm not so sure?
In my opinion harness bars are not safe in a roll over (with out a roll bar).
If the belt is to short have you thought about making a seat belt extention from an old honda belt ,something with male female ends that would clip into what you have now?
Maybe take a peice of flat steel bar (4" or 5")long, bolt it to the floor pan mount and bolt your seat belt to the other end(round both ends), as long as the flat bar does not stick up above the seat to the point that it would impale you if you rolled over on it.
Hope this helps in some way! see you @ the RX Byron

Byron, I ran SF once in my VW Fox. I had my youngest daughter Sarah with me.

The issue is when I'm seated comfortably with a helmet on I have to have the seat back and the shoulder harness doesn't engage me very well. I guess I could use one of those 3" lap belts like you do. Does SF allow for a racing type seat that would be lower than a stock seat?

Your thinking of Ron, I missed the first couple months last year.
As for adding a racing seat that would move you to PF.
If you feel comfortable in the car the way it is and the lap belt holds you in place and you feel safe I wouldn't worry about it. It's your call , I have never seen a rule that states how tight the belts have to be? I have the same type belts that you have, and have tought about adding a belt like Ron's.

Sorry about the mistaken identity. Well I guess we'll see how it works, I may make a velcro jacket and put a bunch of velcro on the seat back

90 Civic DX Hatch.... I can almost put the car in the back of my van. I'm having trouble with a good seating position if I wear a helmet.

Got KYB GR2s on the way, buying some used snow tires from Byron and now looking for a set of wheels. Been doing the normal tune up and fixing the various parts that are messed up on a el Cheapo car. Replaced brake booster, cleaned IACV, cleaning up the usual twist and tape electricals, gotta get a seat belt latch and some key cylinders from Pullapart then I'm good to go.

I'm looking for some neon unicorns and dragons to put on the car, I've heard those are worth 50hp at least. Gotta spray paint some parts purple and that'll boost me another 250hp or so.

Seriously though I'm going to try to do a rattle can multi-cam paint job.
