I've been having a great time in autocross and rallycross looks like a lot of fun, too. I don't want to use my new GTI for this, but I do have an old Hummer H1 that needs its legs stretched every now and then. Are larger vehicles allowed for rallycross? Are the courses more open than the autocross courses, i.e. is there maneuvering room?

YIKES!!! I'm thinking no. We do have the Honda Pilot that runs with us but he is pretty low and no where near as big as an H1. And the courses can get tight some times. I'll let the RallyX guys chine in on this too, but I'm thinking it would not be very fun for you trying to get that big beast in and out of cones.Sara {Novice Chief} SM 11

Width is the problem. If these courses have tight slaloms and narrow gates like some of the autocross features, then I may be too wide. (Think dually width, but for the full length of the truck.) Lengthwise, it's actually a few inches shorter than a Pilot, but has a longer wheelbase.2010 VW GTI (27 NDSP) AutoX

Rallycross uses a different course layout style than autocross ... basically, there is only ever an apex cone. There is no cone marking the outside of the course for a feature. And "tightness" on the course would be in regard to the size and turning radius of the vehicle, not features defined by cones.Matt W.

You may be surprised at how it does. I for one would like to see it come out. The setup folks do a great job and there seems to be plenty of room for our LARGER vehicles and I think they would work with you because we would be glad to have you out to help grow our program.Paul Street

Ultimately, it would be frustrating to rallycross it, but I still think everyone would like to see it out there. The course is located on a huge property, I am sure we could find something else to do with a Hummer that would be fun.
I am sure people would trade some joy rides with you.Caj Anderson

As an ex army vet. I say give it a go. Your not going to have any worries flipping it. I think most cars would flip before it. I've beat the snot out of army h1's and never heard one complaint. I'd bet you'd suprise a lot of people on just how well they handle and of course you'd dominate if the track got really muddy.

Yeah, by no means come out an check rallycross out. An H1 is way to wide of the course, but their is some trees out there you can move for us...lol. Who owns an H1 besides Schwarzenegger now-a-days?....
No offence towards Hummers or Arnold....

But it's getting old now and I'm tired of fixing broken things in the middle of the woods, so I figure rallycross might be something fun to do with it without being as hard on it as the other stuff.
In the mean time, I'll be doing my rain dance!
