  • Rallycross National Challenge, Sept 11 and 12

Wahoo, so now some details regarding the upcoming 2-day National Challenge event in Manchester, TN.

This year we're doing the scheduling a little different, to accommodate people who are driving long distances. We will be starting the runs at noon on Saturday to give people a chance to make it in without waking up at the crack of dawn. Also that allows people time to eat a good lunch before getting out there. After 2 heats on Saturday, we will all gather at the official hotel (more on that later) for an evening social with some wings and drinks. Then there will be 1 heat on Sunday, so that everyone will have plenty of time to wrap up and head home.

We are going to make this a long track design to give everybody their money's worth, and we will run it backwards on Sunday. We have a huge lot and we are going to take advantage of it!

Also, we are keeping the cost at the same as last year's regardless of rising costs of other SCCA events, in light of what feels like a really tight year on people's budgets.

    Location:
    Behind John Roberts Toyota,
2610 Hillsboro Rd, Manchester, Tn 37355
    Click for map

    Schedule:
Registration and tech starts loosely at 11a.m.
We start running at NOON. There will be 2 heats on Saturday, and 1 heat on Sunday.

    Hotel:
    The Ramada Inn
    2314 Hillsboro Blvd., US 41 & I-24
    Manchester, TN 37355
    (931) 728-0800

We highly recommend staying at the Ramada Inn, it is nice and clean and relatively inexpensive and we use the banquet room for our get-together. In the morning it has breakfast served there. Mention SCCA when you make your reservation to get the discount. Cost is $50 per room for 1 or 2 people. If you have more than that in one room, talk to ‘NISH’ or nancy and see what they will charge you. This includes an executive continental breakfast each morning. They have a beautiful breakfast buffet area that we are going to use Saturday night for eating, drinking and socializing.

    Cost:
$65 for both Saturday and Sunday

We will need help putting on this event, please post at the TRSCCA site if are willing to help and in what capacity. Also post there if you have any questions..

One thing is for sure.....the site is large...and JR most always has a long, flowing and fast course layout.

Plus, the Subie folks...make sure to get your contingency paperwork in and get your decals......see contingency on the SCCA main page (I think).

Nat Challenge pays $300/200/100 with a min of (4) in-class

Check the site as I think VW and Team Dynamics Wheels also have contingency.

We will make this event. No work that weekend. We may bring a second Pilot and hope to have someone to drive the Accord.

                      I think that'll be tight.

We're doing it a little differently. We plan on having first car off the line at noon. For a couple of reasons, so that out-of-towners don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to make the event, and so that everyone can grab lunch in a moderately relaxed pace.

But, depending on entries, with 2 heats, that will probably butt right up against 4 or 5, my guess.

out of towners DOES include those that have to drive 2, 3 or 4 and even more hours.
AND by starting a little later we get rid of the need thought option etc...of a lunch break. eat before we get started and we'll go till dusk. so making B'ingham by 6pm will not work sorry. then we will start sunday morning and get a single several run heat in and call it a day.
you will get enough track time, number of runs will depend on turn out.
brign extra gas or full [or nearly full tanks] you will be doing some driving!!!!
[and you thought nashville was BIG!!!]
and to all who have seen our sight, i will guarranttee you that i will NOT be using the entire field, someday but not this year. my aim is for 2/3 of the site and sun we run it backwards!!!!
